CityGuru of Seattle a.k.a Drew Morrison, A Seattle CityGuru Investing in CityGuru of Seattle? STOP! Do your due Diligence first! Seattle Washington

 Investing in CityGuru of Seattle?  Has the Founder made an irresistable "pitch" why you should put your money into his business?  Have you been promised to be at the ground floor of a business that will put Microsoft out of business one day? 

STOP....close your wallet....it is time to do your due diligence as any practical Investor should do.

First, do your background checks and public record searches.  Learn everything you can about the company--and particularly about the person asking you to invest in the company.  

Second, consider the facts that you will find such as:

1.  To date, CityGuru of Seattle is a Delaware corporation that has an outstanding tax bill with Delaware in the sum of $77,456.00 for 2012. What sort of liabilites are you buying into? 

2. CityGuru is also delinquent with its corporate annual report for 2013. What sort of "visiability" does this company and its founder offer you into its financial and business operations?  Investing without the proper financials and documentation is like driving a car on the interstate--blindfolded!  Invest with a good accountant if you're going to invest with this company. 

3. CityGuru is operating in Washington State without registering as a foreign corporation, nor does it operate with the required state or local business license.  You do not want to take on the headaches of a company bringing upon itself the risk of governmental penalties and intervention!    

Third, you will want to know about the backgrounds and track records of the people who run CityGuru.  Even though CityGuru is organized under a  CEO and CFO, the principal player is the Founder, Drew Morrison.  You will certainly want to know who is he?  What is his background and past business experience?  What does his past investors have to say? 

As the Founder of CityGuru, how is the business doing financially?  How does it generate its income?  What portion of that income goes towards salaries for the Founder and Officers?  If nothing does, than what does Drew Morrison live off without any visible means of income?  What and how will your money be used?  How much of his own money did he put into CityGuru (does it at least match what he is asking you to put into it?)       

These are fair and reasonable questions that any practical investor should ask and for the sake of protecting your own money--you should ask!  And you should expect straight answers with more proof than just a promise. 

Ask Drew Morrison for his corporate tax returns with all schedules including Forms 1099's not only for CityGuru but past companies and startups. Ask for his own personal tax returns.  Ask him for references from past investors and business partners.

Any business person proud of their accomplishments and eager to gain your trust and confidence will gladly provide you with all this information--and in any detail you may request.

If not, perhaps there is a good reason to keep your wallet closed.  

If you are the gambling type, then at least DOCUMENT every transaction involving money that you make with this company.  Never allow your money to leave your wallet before you have fully exeucted documentation in hand--and never execute documentation with this company without it first being reviewed by a licensed attorney.
