I am totally out of patience. My husband and I purchases a home from Clayton this past fall ( more accurately, late summer). For starters, even though we had our home picked out by mid October, it took them until the first week in November to move the house to our property. After we had our closing, there were several things that still needed to be done.

Trim on the outside of the house, sheet rock on the inside of the housse and all of our landscaping that was included in the contract we signed. We waited nearly a month, keeping an eye on the place periodically. Work was being done very, very slowly. Then, when Clayton wanted us to come in and sgn more papers and wanted to hand us over a key, amazingly, more was done is three days tme than had been done all month.

After the "walk through" inspector came through, there were still some small, but important things that needed to be done. Every door in the house needed to be adjusted. None of them would close all the way. The shower door would not shut at all. And the front door could not even be closed enough to be able to lock it. There was supposed to be a duct over the door in one of the smaller bedrooms.

Not only was it not there, but there was a big tear in the wall, in the sheet rock, where the duct was supposed to have been. Plus, in the process of moving the house to our land, the chandelier in the dining area had been broken. The glass stayed in the floor for nearly a month before the contractors even bothered to grab a broom and clean that up.

Now, it is December 10. 2008 and we still have not been able to move in. The duct, the tear, one piece of the trim on the outside and the chandiler nave still not been touched. Plus, now we have a new problem. For some reason, the contractor was told by Clayton not include te proper drainage system with this home. So yesterday, after having some very heavy rain in the area, we now have a flood in our side yard!!!

We are at the end of our rope. My husband and I are going out to Clayton Homes again tomorrow, to bascially give them a piece of our mind. Eventhough, that may make us feel better, I don't know what else it would help. If we make them mad at us, they may work even slower.

Any advice??

If the doors are not closing they may not have set it level on the ground. Also was there a time frame to how long they had to get all this done in? You may be out of luck on the drain if it is not written into your contract too. Clayton is not known for being a sturdy moblile home company , so I hope it lasts longer than most.
