I went to Clayton Motors approx. 10 days ago to look at a Jeep Cherokee.  I was talking to my salesperson Ernest Warwick and explaining to him that what I really wanted was a 4-door 4x4 full size truck.  He then told me that they had happened to repo. one this morning.  We went back to look at the truck and I said this is exactky what I wanted.  He then explained to me that by being a repo. the downpayment would be $295.00 instead of the $700.00 which I was prepared to pay.  Then was told the payments should be around $280.00 a month as advertised on ALL there other repo's.  I was then told the price of the truck may be a little higher because it came back with some damage to the transmission and had 2 very small dents on the truck.  Plus it was filthy dirty and needed a detail.   We then talked and I explained to both Ernest and Rob I could not pay over $320.00 a month.  I was then told that should be no problem and I could pick up the truck the next Wednesday. Boy was I happy as I had been driving  20 year old truck for a very long time and was ready for something newer.  Days went by and I was talking to Ernest and he informed me the truck maybe a little more because of the damage.  We both went into Rob's office and I was told by the manager Rob that the truck would not be over $9,995.00 and my payments will not exceed $341.00 a month.  I did not like the payment cost as it was more than I really wanted to pay.  Anyway, since he told me that the price was for sure the MOST it would be and  Ernest said that was on the high side and more than likely be less.  I was happy with this as I kinda trusted these guys unlike most car salespersons.

Then Wednesday came by and then I was told that since it was a repo. that they had to give the previous owners 10 days to get there things out of the truck and possibly pay for it. So I had no choice but to wait because this was the law.  So days went by and it came the day I could pick up my truck.  I was then told it was not ready from the detailer but would be there the next day. So I waited another day and the same thing happened. Then the next day was Friday and was told by Ernest the truck would be there in the morning or early afternoon.  So I went to work with my wife to Knoxville as she was calling on her customers that day.  After several phone calls with Ernest I was then told the truck was still wet from the detailing but would for sure be there the next morning (Saturday) by 10:00. So what was I to do but wait.  My wife and I were on our way home and I looked up and we were at the dealership and my truck was sitting out in front of the building.  Man was I excited so we went back to the store and located Ernest to close my deal and go home with my truck. He tried to find Rob and found him in his office and he was closing a deal with another customer and it would be a while before he was finished.  I was then told by Ernest that Rob had driven the truck and a tire was out of balance and it was still wet.  I then reminded Ernest to check the air conditioning as I had thouht it was a little low of freon. He then said it would be no problem as he had a person in the shop on Saturday to repair these items.  We then decided to go home and come back the next morning to pick up my truck.  By the way the truck looked fantastic from the detail.

Now it was Saturday morning and my wife drove me back to Knoxville to close the deal.  We arrirved around 10:30 and I went into Ernest's office ready to close the deal.  I was then told by Ernest that the price of the truck ended up to be $11,000.00 in stead of the $9,995.00 I had been promised.  Also my payments went from a maximum of the $341.00 we had agreed on to now be $395.00 a month.  And to top it all off the financing had gone from 42 months to now be 38 months.  All Rob said was thats the way it is as that was what the cost to repair the truck was now.  These guys just FLATt OUT LIED TO ME about the entire deal.  The entire process was a JOKE and  these 2 did nothing but take advantage of me and waisted my time and money traveling back and forth from Sevierville to Knoxville.  I have been in different businesses over 30 years and never ever went back on my word to a customer.  If I gave you a price that was what you paid no matter if I had made a mistake.  I am curious to know if Mr. Clayton realizes what 2 crooks he has working for him?  They need to make good on their promise to me but this will never happen as they are waiting for the next sucker to come in and buy from them.  Mr. Clayton I hope you read this and DO THE RIGHT THING.  Heck maybe you know about it and do not care.

If you do go there to buy a car from these people beware and do not believe a word they say as they are both LIARS AND THIEVES.

YOU ARE RIGHT

AUTHOR: David - ()

POSTED: Sunday, November 10, 2013

Yes, You are right I should of stopped the whole deal.  I had however left $100.00 deposit to hold the truck until the deal was completed.  These guys are the real deal as far as being a bunch of lieing scumbags.  What I cannot believe is that Mr. Clayton would permit such people to work for him unless he condones this kind of operation.  It looks to me if I were as rich as Mr. Clayton must be that he would be in the business of trying to help people and doing the right thing.  The only thing I can see if he really does know the way these employees of his are doing business then all it comes down to is GREED AND THE ALMIGHTY BUCK.  I hope I am wrong as I have heard great things about the other brother as he truly tries to help others in need of help.

Just think of this, Is this company part of the same people that own Clayton Bank?  How would you like to do business with a bank that might do business like this?  How could you trust someone to take care of your hard earned money that condoned this type of operation in another division of there group of business's. I assuming that they are not connected or at least I hope not.

They Told You What They Were All About

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

POSTED: Sunday, November 10, 2013

Come on Man...wise up!  They told you IN ADVANCE they were stringing you along.  You gave them the permission to do that by how you kept going along with what they were doing.  Every step of the way they changed the terms and you went along with it.  After the first or second time, you should have stopped lusting over a dumb truck and realized what they were doing and never returned!
