I had just moved to a house that happened to be just outside the rural zone and the local internet provider did not have axcess out to my address so I shopped around and found that Clearwire was the only one that had services at my address and didn't cost me over $100 a month. I called to get services set up and they sent someone to my home to do so. The guy told me in order to get the accounts set up they needed a credit/debit card to a bank account that had sufficient funds in it. This sounded pretty accurate in my experience so I didn't think twice about it. The guy didn't mention anything about them automatically charging my account every month rather than paper billing. He also told me that they did not provide services without a contract, which I found out later was a load of crap. So they tricked me into signing a two year contract which I was upset about but I planned on being there for a while and figured it wouldn't really be a big deal.

Well, 6 months later the owner of the house I was renting got ill and wanted to take back posession of the house to be closer to family that could care for him, so we moved into town. We were more than excited about it because the services through Clearwire were so bad, half the time the internet wouldn't even work. So I called to find out what the fees were to cancel and was told it would cost around $200. I decided to get through the holidays first and then cancel afterwards considering the price. I called in Feb. 19, 2010 and cancled, that's when all the fun began. First I was informed that it would cost $340 and no matter how I argued that this is not what I was quoted they denied having told me otherwise. So, ok, $340, I would have paid $500 to never have to deal with them again at that point. I was informed that they would need to recieve their equipement via mail before the canelation was complete but I was reassured I would not be charged anymore. On the 25th I checked my bank account and surprise, surprise they charged me $69.96 for another months service. I called and was told that I would be refunded once the equipement was returned.

I asked if there was a local person I could drop off the equipement to or if the guy who hooked it up could come and get it and they said NO. At that time I had not recieved the return postage in the mail yet so I requested more. I called back a few more times that ween just to make sure they knew I had not recieved the return postage in the mail yet. I was informed by two more employees that I had nothing to worry about and I would be refunded. I was getting worried about the time it was takng and didn't want to get charged another months worth of charges so I went and got a printer and printed out the labels on March 1st. That same day I recieved the labels in the mail! I shot over to UPS and sent off the equipement right away. They recieved the equipement sometime between the 2nd and the 4th depending on who I talk to there. They charged me $340 straight to my bank account and I waited 2 days and NO REFUND of the $69.96. SHOCKING. So, I called again. All of a sudden there will be no refund and there is no record of anyone telling me that I was going to recieve one. How convenient!

So I called back everyday and talked to a new person everyday and still got nowhere. I even have the names of the 3 people who told me I would get refunded and they say they don't recognize the names and there is no note on my account about any conversation with them. I finally told them that I would continue to call back everyday and speak with someone new everyday until I get refunded like I was promised. It wasn't until I threatened to go to the media and newspapers that they finally caved. I spoke with a supervisor who was incredibly rude and told her I was reporting this to the media and newspapers and hung up the phone. I gave it about 20 minutes and I called back. I'm guessing she noted that to my account because I spoke with another supervisor who instantly agreed that she would refund my bank account. So now I am waiting to see if I really do get my refund, she said it could take up to 3-5 business days. We will see. Don't ever sign up with clearwire, I know I will never use them again. I would rather go without internet thatn use them again.
