For the past 10 months we have used Clearwire in the Amarillo, Texas area. And in that time we have asked Clearwire a number of times why we are not getting the download speeds that we are paying for. Their reply or excuse is that the problem lies in our hardware/software and I know this is not the case. And on top of SLOW download speeds the Clearwire modem keeps dropping off altogether every time we get wind over 10mph and rain.

Then on the modem it self I found out that some of the drop offs occurred due to the power cord not making a good connection so that every time there was any kind of movement to the modem the dumb thing would reset it self. I have called clear wire a number of times and this last time the service guy tried to give me some kind of run around about the difference in kilobits and megabytes and that whats advertised is not really what speeds you should be looking for when you do a ping test or use some other on-line speed test. He had the nerve to tell me that 400kbps was a good speed never mind that Im normally running 200kbps or so and it has been as low as 16kbps for periods of time and not just here and there but for hours. Now I pay for 1.5mb or 1500kbps and I know that most people if any ever get the full download speeds but come on, 200kbps-400kbps is a long way from even 1000kbps.

I have taken screen shots of my download test and logged my ping tests as well as getting screen captures of all my service requests from the Clearwire web site. For the past 2 months I have been doing download and ping test 3-4 times a week and sometimes more just to show that clearwire is not giving me what Im paying for. I was doing a lot better with CableOne even if I did have to pay $20 more for it but it was a lot faster and more reliable but we moved so we changed service now Im stuck for another year with Clearwire, OH Joy!!!

PS
Im downloading Linux right now and Im only getting 47kb/sec and for a 1.16Gb file its going to take all friggin day.
