I purchased a 2012 Nissan Altima in June of 2014, from Coggin Nissan. With the car barely being 2 years old, I didn't feel the need to purchase an extended warranty. Big mistake! In the six months I've had this clunker, I've had to replace the battery (the car died on me THREE times within three months). The dealer refused to replace it for free but offered to sell me one at a pretty expensive price. I declined, fearing the quality of their parts. In addition to the battery, I kept telling them that the tire pressure light won't go out. They're only suggestion was to add air to the tire. When I explained that this was only a temporary fix (because I've tried it several times), they ignored me & just put air in it anyway. No one bothered to look further into the problem & needless to say, it still exists. The next issue is regarding my air vents. I noticed that my defroster wasn't working, and neither was the floor vents. Not understanding why this is a problem, I took it to a mechanic. I was told that I had a bad accurator. I asked Nissan if they would fix it, I was told that because I didn't purchase an extended warranty, it wasn't covered. Feeling defeated, I paid over $200 to have the mechanic repair this part.....or so I thought. I paid the money, but only to find out that this didn't fix the problem.

I was was told that the whole housing unit was bad, and the part was on a national back order due to several cars having this same issue. He advised me to try to get the dealership to fix the problem because of the national back order. Armed with the information he provided me, I went back to Coggin to plead my case. But to no avail. Again, I was told that this would be at my expense. I was told that Nissan doesnt see this as a safety concern, so they wouldn't cover the expense. (So not being able to see because I can't defrost my windows.....that's not a safety concern?) the "manager" (Chris) didn't even have the courtesy to look at me & speak to me like I was a human being. He simply looked down at his computer, quoted me a fee of $1500 ($1000 of that being labor alone), & waited for me to pay. I brought up the fact that this being a problem with other cars due to being on NATIONALS back order, in which he actually called & confirmed, but that meant nothing.  The salesman who sold me the car even tried to plead my case, explaining to Chris that I've had several issues on a 2 year old car. But his pleas fell on deaf ears. So again, I walked away defeated

Due to having a bad bad housing unit, the new part I just purchased is burning out. So since then, my heat & my AC have started failing. If I knew i was going to encounter this much heartache, I would've avoided going to them. I've never experienced such lack of concern in my life. I understand they're a car dealership, in the business of making money, but I might as well have gone to a "buy-here-pay-here" dealership.

It's a gamble

AUTHOR: coast - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, December 30, 2014

“I chose to exercise my right to voice my opinion of MY experience with a shaddy car dealership.”

They are shady only if they concealed problems with the car at the time of purchase.

“If this company (which is sounds like YOU work for) offers quality merchandise…”

The dealer did not manufacture the vehicle or the parts.

“a member of Coggin Nissan informed me that this is a common problem with this company”

What problem is that... their refusal to offer free service?

Your decision not to purchase the extended warranty was a gamble. It’s unreasonable for you to expect the same warranty service that is available to customers that paid for it.

Whomever you are, you're exactly right. I chose to exercise my right to voice my opinion of MY experience with a shaddy car dealership. Unlike you....who seems to know ALL there is to know regarding MY situation, perhaps everyone is not aware that one would need an extended warrantee on a practically new vehicle. If this company (which is sounds like YOU work for) offers quality merchandise, then perhaps they should honor that. As ignorant as you sound, no, I do not expect them to put the cars on a treadmill. HOWEVER, I don't expect to be sold a piece of trash.

Regardless of how many capital letters you use, how angry you are about my post, etc.....this story will still be told. What you don't know (because contrary to your belief, you DON'T have all the answers) this is not the only place this information is being voiced. Now, until you've actually walked a mile in my shoes, your rebuttal is moot. And judging by your ignorant comment, it's obvious who you are. And to also inform you, a member of Coggin Nissan informed me that this is a common problem with this company. So you see, I'm not just a disgruntled "victim", as you want to portray me to be. I'm a hard-working citizen who will not allow a big corporation to take advantage of me. What goes around will inevitable come back around.

AS IS MEANS AS IS!!!

AUTHOR: Tyg - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, December 30, 2014

Sorry to say this but AS IS MEANS AS IS!!!! YOU foolishly chose to NOT get the extended warranty. Now YOU seek to bash them online in a childish attempt to use internet blackmail. Unfortunatly, THIS SITE never removes a post. So what YOU have written biased as it is will NOT be removed. This is COMMON SENSE!! YOU even signed a form that explained ALL of this to you. Only YOU and the previous owner are privy to ALL the problems. The dealership doesn't USE these vehicles. If it runs and doesn't leak fluids then that is all they need. The previous owner IS NOT going to tell the dealership about what is REALLY wrong with the vehicle. So while Im 100% sure it makes YOU feel better to blast them online pretty much calling THEM the bad guys, YOU FAIL to realize that the dealership is as much of a "victim" as YOU are. Are you perhaps thinking they put the car on a treadmill and run it for a thousand miles. NOT!!! Are you perhaps thinking some science geek gets up under the hood and mind melds with the engine?? NOT!!! They do a "Does it work" check. If everything looks good then they sell the vehicle. But THAT is why its COMMON KNOWLEDGE that ALL cars/vehicles/boats/planes ect that are sold used are AS IS unless an extended warranty is in play. But YOU KNEW THIS!! Why else would you attempt to use internet blackmail to get your way?? YOU are NOT informing the world of some super secret screw over. No, YOU are WHINING online trying ANYTHING to get out of paying for YOUR problem!!! No matter how YOU try and spin this, it IS your problem. To expect the dealership to put out money THEY DO NOT LEGALLY HAVE TO just because YOU THINK THEY SHOULD is silly and really goes to show both your lack of understanding and your selfish self entitled nature. Get over it because the dealership IS NOT obligated by ANY law to do ANYTHING for you. YOU can sit there and cry "but its customer service", when it IS NOT about customer service. It IS about YOU either NOT WANTING to pay for the repairs or your unable to afford the repairs. Either way, it IS NOT the dealerships responsibility it IS yours. YOU have to live with the choices YOU have made. NOT buying the extended warranty only shows a lack of foresight on YOUR part.
