On September 29,2005 I was hired on to manage a Family Dollar store. There were 2 stores to choose from one that was 10 minutes from home and one that was 30 minutes from home. When I spoke with the District Manager D I told him if I was to take the store further away from home I would want more money due to the cost of gas and wear and tare on my car. So he said I would get the Eloy store and start me off AT $625.00 wkly. I was sent to the other store for training.

It was four weeks in to my training the manager at the training store was fired. I stayed there while I completed my training. Shortly after the firing of the manger this we got a new District Manager. He asked if I would stay at the store through the holidays about 4 weeks, then I could go to my store. So I agreed.

When the holidays had past and the first of the year approached I was looking forward to the shorter drive. My assistant at that time felt she was not ready to assume responsibility of the store I was covering. So she wanted me to stay as well as my cashiers. My assistant had talked to the District Manager about offering more money to stay at that store. He came to me and told me that the old manager of the store I was hired for had come back to the company, but since I had been hired for that store I had first pick to go to the store I was hired for or I could stay at the store were I was trained and had been covering. I explained to him the discussion I had with the previous District Manager. He said he would give me 75.00 dollars more a week if I stayed there. I had just found out out I was pregnant. The store I was Hired for was had a Bigger turn around of merchandise plus their truck was twice as big and the store was a mess. The store I had been covering. was just coming along from previous management that left the store in unacceptable conditions. We had cleaned it up and made it look 10 times better. So I accepted the offer that Tim had made.

A month had past a still no raise, 3 months past and still no raise. I would call T and call HR to see if the raise had been put threw. I would call HR at least 3 days before payroll would wrap to see if the raise had been submitted and if it had not I would call T to let him know. Finally he said that due to inventory being so close that Hr had kick back the raise. He assured me that when he put the inventory raises threw he put the $75.00 dollars he promised me to keep the store plus the retro pay to be effective 1/1/06 and he would also put in a small raise too. Our inventory was in April and it would not be until mid May when I would see the pay difference. When that time came, my pay had only been increased to $675.00 and my retro pay was only dated back til 4/08/06. I called T right away and his answer to me was that they would not let him put the whole amount threw. I called Hr on 5/26/2006 I spoke with a representative and asked her if there would be any reason why a raise that was submitted would be kicked backed. She stated they do not kick back raises. Once the District Manager Submits the raises all they do is put it thew, and they have no reason to throw them out. I called and emailed T, told him that I would be leaving on maternity leave 7/18/06. this would be unpaid and that money was really needed not only the fact that it was owed to me. During the 7 months I was sick and ran the store at times on three people and never once did I not go in I was dedicated to my store. I have always look at my jobs as an investment, the more you put in to it the more you get out of it. With out it I would have no way of supporting my 4 children soon to be 5. My maternity came and still no raise. I returned to work and still all I Got from T was the Run around. During this time most of the associates knew of the pay battle with T. Not only had he done this to me but he had also done it to other employees in regard to their raises and the retro pay to be effective of the date the raise was offered it was a constant battle. Right now I am off work due to work related injury. I have gone to the Regional Manager, Employee relations, Human Resources and nothing has come to light. They want me to get fed up and just give up, like the other Employees. The last E-mail I have to T is on 4/09/2007 reminding him of what is still owed to me. Our inventory was 5/5/07 so I wanted to make sure that this was finally taken care of. When my annual raise came threw I was only making $702.00. So for almost 2 years of work I only received a $2.00 raise. I busted my but and loved my job, still love what I did and took pride in my store. I am receiving have of what I make on Workman's comp. My home is so close to foreclosure my car will be reposed. I have had to go to community resources to get help with utilities. This company just does not care. I figure the amount owed to me is about $2,300 this does not include what would be a reasonable raise for two years of work. All my frustration and disappointment. Dealing with the Workman comp injury and being the sole supporter of my 5 children this has been a trying time. If there is anyone out there that can help or give me some advise. My next step is to obtain legal advise. Just want whats right and for T to held accountable. We once got in a argument and he said he does not lie but I can prove different. Its not right to treat and string someone along just to protect your bottom line. The people on the bottom of that totem pole are the ones who keep their chain running

Hey

Well, first of all if you are out on job due to work related, YOU need to go ahead and get a lawyer, find or ask around(not to anyone that works with you)about a good work comp lawyer, most will not accept fees unless they win the case,if they lose you don;t owe them anything. You will need to get all your paper work etc.You need to contact worker comp of your state and see who and what services they can help with, I am not sure what it is, EE0,or something like that to assist with you.Remember w/c will do anything to minimize YOUR injury!I know, !! Turn in your mileage to Risk Management to going back and forth to the DR. make copies of every single piece of paper.

Two, WATCH your back at work, GO by the book on everything.Since you are injured, you are to family dollar, a LIABILITY, they tend to get rid of ppl like this, Iknow, read my report... Watch what you say when you go back to work, if need to be take something with you to document information, (think about it , you will catch the drift,of what documentaion)take a daily diary with you every moment and second to log down everything that goes on at work that includes employees,DM's HR, get names of who ever you talk to at corp office, date of called, if you have cell phone use it to make any calls(you can use your cell phone bill to prove you have tried to do your part)I know it is a pain in the butt, you will have to keep on your toes, e-mail him what you talked about on what specific date, time, and what you both talk about, (if you are doing it at home or at the store, KEEP the e-mail with you and make several copies) send one to HR dept, print it up that you sent it and that they replied to you, like I say make copies of everything.

If you have bad inventories and not good sales, and payrol out of wack, and not keeping control expenses down , you will not get a bonus or a raise, that is different from dollar general.

Third, while you go back, or before you go back, seek more work somewhere else, go to a unemployment office or work force center and get one ready to line up after you are recovered, don't go in there saying anything what they did to you, etc.., put down reason for leaving "personal".I know it is hard while you have kids depending on, but face it you are going to have to leave sooner or later. The job is not only mental stress, but physicaly.I havent done this work in a while , and already my back etc.. is almost ruined, i unloaded trucks for over 14 years, you start having female trouble, you can get hernie or cysts, you can name it.I know you want to invest in a good job, I aplaud you for that and trying, but as a concerned bystander, invest in yourself, you can do better that family dollar, they are so cheap they dont care about anybody but themselves

.Go back and put in family dollar under the search and read all of the comments about them, there is another site, that has over 3,000 bad reports about this company, they have more than wal-mart! Good luck, I will be getting you more information , so keep checking, hope the best for you!

Well, first of all I am sorry for what has happened, even though you may not hear it from them. That is the sad part about these companies, they make alot of promises that they don't keep. And as far as W/C, well I can say I know what that is, anyway, I will post something yo might need to look in, just keep checking, thanks
