Charles gave me an estimate for work I wanted to have performed before the summer.  He was a very smooth talker as well as a gentleman until I signed a contract and gave a 10% deposit.   I was then treated with the worst customer service.

The work was scheduled to start a little over a month after we had signed the contract.  On the scheduled date, nobody showed up.  I did not hear from Charles, a representitive, or anyone from the company. I contacted the company and was told the date was delayed due to weather (there was no heavy rain during this time period). I didn't buy the reason, but giving them the benefit of the doubt, they rescheduled for another future date and I agreed.

Needless to say, the second date was a no show, and again without any communication from him or his company. I had called the following day and was told they were behind schedule and the work would start in two weeks. At this point, I told them I wanted to cancel for lack of communication or respect for my time. The company schedules, reschedules, and push back dates without consulting the customer. Charles called me immediately because I wanted to cancel.  I told him future dates conflicted with my schedule and I wanted my deposit back.  His reply was there are no refunds because I am breaking the contract.  I don't see how I am breaking the contract when his company did not show twice (both start dates were scheduled by him) and didn't even bother to call.

It is now 3 1/2 months after I have given Charles my deposit and I still have not been given a refund of my deposit.

I learned two valuable lessons from my encounter with Charles:

  1. Do not take advice from one website **H***A******.com**
  2. Visit other websites **Yelp.com** to view other reviews

There are very good contractors out there, unfortunately Charles is not one of them.
