If you have had a negative experience with Coastal Credit LLC, I highly suggest that you file a complaint with the FTC and Attorney General, in order to help them find a pattern of their business practices.  Once a pattern is found, the FTC will get involved.

My husband got a car loan through Coastal Credit LLC back in October 2010, while he was Active Duty Military.  In September 2012, my husband left the Military, and informed the company of this change.  He did tell Coastal Credit that he did have a civilian job, and would continue payments.  The company wanted to set up a pick up time for our vehicle, since my husband was no longer in the military.

This company does not give you any way to keep track of your payments.  No receipts, no balance notices.  Even refuses to give you your payment history, when asked.

October 31, 2012, we brought our child home to die, after a 5 year battle with Cancer.  Our son passed away in the end of November 2012, and we had 3 services, in 3 different states, for him.  During this time, we had been late by a couple of days.  But they always got their money.

About a week ago, give or take, I received 2 phone calls from the company, from 2 different offices.  I was informed that we were 16 days past due.  I made payment arrangements.  Neither person I spoke with verbalized anything regarding repo.  We did not receive written notification.  We had a payment arrangement in place, and our vehicle was repo'd.

The repo man stated that Coastal Credit instructed him to come in the middle of the night to take the vehicle, so that we would not know.  They told him to go on a weekend, so that they wouldn't have to talk to us right away, as they were closed.  But he came during the day, and spoke with us.  The company said that they weren't worried about the key.  That they would not work with us because they knew that this was the only vehicle that we had, and the only way my husband could get to work to make money.

I have researched since the repo.  This company is not BBB accredited, and for good reason.  Our situation is also the normal behavior of this company.  If you are looking to do business with Coastal Credit, LLC, safe yourself the stress and hassle.  Run away from them.

I also am going through the same thing I'm only two payments behind . I was on maternity leave and I kept expressing to them . That I will pay two months up front when I get back to work because my disability was not that much . Right now I'm getting calls about them trying to repo my car and I'm asking if it's possible to wait one more week and they will have their money. Once again they are telling me no. I don't understand how there are people who miss more than two payments and still are able to keep there car . This is my first time doing anything like this and it's a horrible experience for me. Wishing that I had just bought my car out in the first place .

Whenever YOU are late, YOU turn on the collections efforts.  There are no excuses, no extenuating circumstances.  They've heard all the stories.  When you are late, you are subject to a repo.  This is a subprime lender. The reason they don't have the phoney BBB "accreditation" is because they haven't yet purchased it.  The BBB sells these phoney ratings to anyone willing to pay the price.

If rudeness and being inconsiderate was something the FTC would come down on companies for..they wouldn't have time to go after the true violators.  So what did this company do that is illegal?..Based on your report the answer is of course NOTHING.

You see you did sign a legally binding agreement to make a specific payment for a specific amount of time and a specific amount.  There was nothing in there that you only had to do it if you could, or if you didn't have any family emergencies.

The company has a legal right.."payment arrangements" or not to reposess the car if you are delinquent, and yes..that means if you were even a day late.  In just about every state NO notice is required to be given prior to a repo.

Why are they responsible for keeping track of your payments. You are an adult..right?  Why don't you keep a copy of the cancelled checks and/or money orders of your payments?

You said that when your husband left the Military they wanted to pick up the car.  Well IF your husband got the car under a special program for military personel he obviously wouldn't qualify anymore..again not saying it was the reason.  But even so...did they take the car..not until you were 16 days late...almost 11 months later.  Perhaps they were (rightfully) worried that he wouldn't have a steady income anymore making his loan more of a risk.

As for your "Repo Man" story.  The bank is not going to tell a Repo Agent when to do their job...all they want is their car back.  Perhaps the Repo Man was feeding you a line so you wouldn't get agitated at him...after all I bet you were a lot calmer with him than you would have been if he said that he decided to confront you instead of just getting it in the middle of the night.

Oh and if you really want to look at a RipOff..search out "BBB Pay for Play" and then see what you think about "accredidation".
