Cohen & Slamowicz, LLC; Midland Funding,LLC Trying to collect a debt that was already settled four years ago, with prior company FNANB Woodbury New York

I just recently found out that this company had filed a judgement against me and also place a hold on my checking account. Without any warning or notice that any more money was even owed to them. I had settled a debt with a prior credit card company (FNANB) in March of 2004 and never received any letters or bills afterwards.

Apparently another company bought them ..Midland Funding, LLC and they are trying to collect the balance. It seems there was some great miscommunication there between companies. Midland Funding, LLC then gave my account to Cohen & Slamowicz to pursue the so called outstanding balance of approx $2100.00.

I faxed proof: a copy of an agreement of amount of settlement and copy of a check cut to: the credit card co. FNANB and they did fax a Release request/LETTER of ERROR to my bank to release the hold.

Now here I am trying to refi my ARM loan and find out this is still on my credit report as a JUDGEMENT against me !!!

I was advised by a mortgage loan officer to settle with them, and then take them to small claims court to get my money back.

However I don't want to give them money that I do not owe this company !! This is ruining my credit, and my reputation and they are not returning my calls or emails any longer.

My bank suggested I go down to Cohen & Slamowicz in person and demand a letter of SATISFACTION !!
