I was an Avon representative for a too long period of time. Every order that I placed had a problem to go along with it. Either money was received late, they didnt have what was ordered, or something was lost in the mail. I sent a money order in with some returned merchandise. I did not know that I had to send the money order in to a different place from returned merchandise. Well, this is what caused everything to be messed up.

By the time I had a trace put on the money order that they said they never received, and got another money order maiiled to me, I was behind on a few of my bills that had to be paid. I have been sending them money on the 143.69 balance that I had, but yet still continue to get harrasing phone calls from different individuals saying that they are lawyers and that if the balance isn't paid in full my income tax would be seized.

I have made payments on this matter, it is not as if I am not doing anything at all and ignoring the situation. They should not be allowed to have different people calling me and my families homes making threatening comments. If I would have known that I would have to got through all of this I would have never agreed to sell avon.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Ex Avon Rep knows the drill

AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 01, 2006

Avon reps beware! It is almost impossible to make money with that company. Every order has a problem, like you said. If a customer orders, Avon is out-of-stock, or back-ordered. So the customer will cancel, or not want to order again, or something---and you are stuck with the wholesale costs.

LEGALLY STOP PAYING THEM AND DO NOT LET THEM CALL YOU & YOUR FAMILY OR FRIENDS.

Here is how. FIRST: Call them and tell them to Cease and Desist. They know what that means. It is the three words that all consumers should know to tell devilish rude and harassing collectors. It is a legal way of getting relief.

SECOND: Send them a Cease and Desist letter. Certify it, with a return receipt. That makes sure that they cannot claim you did not send them one. The green return receipt is your proof, and they have to sign for your letter.
THEY CANNOT LEGALLY CALL YOU OR ANYONE ELSE IN YOUR FAMILY AGAIN. They also have to stop collecting from you any amounts until it is investigated. Even after the investigated time is up--they cannot abuse or harrass you anymore.

I know, I am ashamed to say I am a former collector.

Federal Credit Laws allow for you to stop unfair collection activities, and they must stop collecting on disputed amounts.

THIRD: Make sure you put in the letter what you put here, that you are disputing the amounts, and the cirmstances surrounding it.

FOURTH:Also make sure you put in the fact that they are FALSELY IMPERSONATING ATTORNEYS--which is a violation of the Fair Credit Collections Act. They need to cease and to desist because of that.

FIFTH: Send a copy to your State Attorney General's office. No need to rewrite a letter. Just copy what you send to Avon, and put a sticky note, or short written note saying "I am being threatened by illegal collecting, please help." You info should include your address and phone number for a call back.

FINALLY--IF THEY ACCEPTED A PARTIAL PAYMENT FOR THE AMOUNT OWED---LEGALLY, THEY HAVE MADE A SETTLEMENT, AND YOU OWE THEM NOTHING MORE. I HOPE YOU HAVE A COPY OF YOUR CHECK. THE NEXT TIME THEY CALL, DO THE ABOVE--ALSO TELL THEM THAT THEY SETTLED FOR WHAT YOU PAID, AND TELL THEM THEY ARE GETTING A CEASE & DESIST LETTER, AND DARE THEM TO CALL YOU BACK AFTER THEY GET THAT LETTER. (They won't)
GET GOING. STOP PAYING THEM. THE SOONER YOU DO THE ABOVE, THE BETTER YOU WILL REST EASY AT HOME.

Sara, Allied Data [Collectors] broke several laws here!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 01, 2006

Sara,

Don't pay them anything. Immediately send a CEASE COMMUNICATIONS request as per your rights under the FDCPA. Send this letter by certified mail, return reciept requested. Put the certified# on the letter itself, and keep a copy for your records. This is very important.

It is illegal for any collector to threaten garnishment or siezure, etc. It is illegal to make any threats or use intimidating language or hostile attitude.

It is also illegal to pose as an attorney or any other officer of the court. This is a felony in some states.

Go to FTC.gov and file a separate complaint for each violation. Do this online.

Good luck!
