Today, December 7, 2012, I received a notice in the mail from the Collection Bureau of Nevada requesting that I send them an amount of $1,335.35 for their client Internet Auto Sales in Reno, NV. They claim that they have previously tried to contact me, but I have never been contacted by them through any means.

I also find it rather odd that the payment is to go directly to them. There are numerous threats in the letter such as "Your failure to cooperate can only make matters worse" and "All accounts not paid within 30 days will be reported to the credit bureaus."

I find this all rather odd since the automobile to which all of this is likely in reference to was purchased in January 2011, nearly 2 years ago. The down payment was paid in full and I have been making regular payments on the vehicle since I purchased it.

I am strongly inclined to believe that this is a scam created to illegally obtain money from me.

In Defense of Collection Bureau of Nevada

In all honesty, I really cannot fault the Collection Bureau of Nevada because mail does tend to get lost. This is apparently what happened. I do fault Internet Auto for not even remotely trying to contact us about an additional amount that was determined after the purchase of the vehicle from them. However, this is in no way the fault of Collection Bureau of Nevada.
