Colorado Reptile Humane Society is supposedly a reptile rescue headed by Ann-Eliabeth Nash. Ms Nash is also a vocal member of PETA.

In Colorado there is a legal defined difference between a rescue and a shelter and although they are registered as a rescue they operate as a shelter.

According to their filed records they euthanize almost half the animals they take in. Ms. Nash has stated publicly that will euthanize all non-native species brought to them. They also "sterilize" animals brought to them by mutilating their reproductive organs. This is not an acceptable or humane procedure.

CORHS also charges a $10 processing fee to fill out an adoption request. However, I know of no one who has actually filled out this request and adopted an animal. Most people are never even contacted once their money is sent.

Animal Rescue, the Truth and people who need to prove what they claim.

AUTHOR: James - (U.S.A.)

Well first off i have done reptile rescue and education for just about a decade now in Va. and Nc. and have only heard good things not only about Ann but also about the work that CoRHS does. After reading your post Alex if thats your real name i invite you to prove that people send in money and never hear back from CoRHS. If you read the site is says up front the fee is non-refundable and i can tell you in all the years we have paid and printed out (out of our personal pockets) adoption forms to pass out to people who say they want to adopt and then we never hear from them again and still email out to people dozens of times a year and more then half never fill them out and email back to us, i can see why they charge a $10 fee to "weed out" people who are not serious. Heck our 2 non-profit groups should start to do it aswell instead of having people watse our adoption forms and Volunteer Time!

I will reply to each of your comments:

Something also very telling about you is that you start off your nasty comment by telling her full name and that she is a vocal member of PETA, i don't agree with many of the things PETA does but they have done some good things even if they have done some bad things too but who are you? and what do you do other then try to put down someone who's done years of volunteer work to try and make things in this world alittle better for people and animals.

I'll say i don't know how they are listed as a rescue or a shelter but if the state of CO. doesn't seem to mind then why do you care? Many states now don't have the funds to operate shelters and if they do they have no idea how to care for reptiles only cats and dogs. So they just try to pass these animals on to registered rescues in their state and thats how rescues become shelters cause we can't adopt them all out so some we try to keep to let them have some kind of life while they are still alive and they do get medical care and as much personal time as we can give them. I know Ann and Corhs has spent $1000s and $1000s on vet care for all the animals that can be saved and those who have the best chance of being adopted when the time comes but not all are, some come in and either can't be saved or have been so abused they could never be adopted out cause they would seriously hurt the person adopting.

We all file records each year on the animals we take in and if they live, die, are put down or adopted, its all on the up and up and yes we have our rescues spayed or neutered so that people who adopt out wont later on try to make some "easy money" and breed the iguanas we adopt out to them later on and we ask them to bring the animal back to us if they don't want it anymore and 50% do! with in 3 years. The pet trade imports about 750,000 baby iguanas alone each year, Fla. is being over run by them and other non-native animals so you tell me what is your idea for this problem? and how do they mutilate them? show us some proof then. I don't like the idea of having to put any reptile under for an operation cause theres always a chance they won't wake up afterwards but how many full grown adult male iguanas have you ever cared for who can take a finger off when they go into mating season and can become VERY AGGRESSIVE! Again how are you any expert in this area and wheres your proof?

Again very easy to say but wheres your proof? ofcourse you can say that you know of no one who ever adopted one of their animals but then again you dont work there. I'm sure they can and have to account for all animals who have been adopted out so i bet they can prove it and i'm sure they have to report the money too and can prove it and i'm sure you can't.

I tell you what, you go into animal rescue, work to network and gain volunteers then do the paperwork to become a non-profit and spend $1000s of your own money doing it. Work for free non stop year after year, spend $1000s of your own money rescuing and rehabbing animals, answer 10s of 1000s of emails for help with sick animals on websites and groups. Watch people drop off their pets they bought and are responsible for, like a soda can they dont want anymore and just want to throw it away for someone else to pick up and recycle for them cause they can't be bothered to find a good home for it, or cause its sick and they don't think the animal is worth the vet bill or the bill for food, lighting, heating.... but they will let YOU do it and let YOU pay for it so they dont have too, yet they would have a FIT if they were not allowed to buy it in the first place or had to pay to put it down when they didn't want it anymore. There are not many good homes for so many to go too. So heres your chance put your money where your mouth is and do rescue and education work and show the rest of us how it should be done.

I invite you to come and try.

However i seem to think you tried to adopt but they found that either you would not make a good home or you've been convicted of animal abuse in the past so they couldn't adopt out to you, so you posted this to get even or maybe you don't like Ann or PETA but hey if i'm wrong then prove me wrong.
