On November 28, 2004, I purchased the two way radios from Fry's in Las Vegas. I was told their was a $25 rebate and a rebate receipt was issued.

On December 2, 2004, I mailed in all the forms for my rebate. I have contacted the company on numerous occasions, and left messagese-mailed on numerous occasions, and was told I'd get a response, and never did. I called Fry's to get a direct number, and spoke with a woman named Nancy. I sent in all the correct forms and UPC numbers. On one occasion she told me she would process my rebate.

Then when I still did not get my rebate, I called again in May, 2004. I was told by Nancy that they have had a problem getting paid by Fry's, and put all these rebates on hold. I called Fry's and they told me that was not true. I then called back the number for Nancy again today, and was told I reached the reception desk, and that Nancy could now be reached at the 800 number. I called the 800 number and was got a message that the mailbox was full. I called the other number again, and was told that she can leave a message for Nancy and she'd get back to me.

Obviously, this company is hoping all those rebate requesters will just go away if they just keep giving us the run around. We cannot give up!

Rebuttal to Mandi's rebuttal

AUTHOR: Pam - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 16, 2004

First of all, I never blamed Fry's for the problem. Mandi, if you had read my comments, you will see that I only received help from Fry's and always put the blame on Columbia Telecommunications. When I purchased this item at Fry's, I also purchased 4 other items with rebates, and all those rebates were issued. And I never had an "attitude" with any employee of Fry's.

With that said, I do believe that I also mentioned that a check from Columbia Telecommunications was issued to me, in the amount of $25.00, and I called the bank to make sure there were sufficient funds in the account, and thus far, the check has not bounced. It has only been two weeks, but the stay on the bankruptcy must have been lifted because my check was issued on October 25, 2004.

So, my solution, start calling Columbia Telecommunications again (not Fry's), and ask for your checks. Then, if its received, call their bank(Bank of New York-I believe), ask if there are sufficient funds in the account, (the account number will be at the bottom of the check they issue) and if so, don't walk, RUN, to your bank and deposit the check (or if you are near a Bank of New York, go directly there and cash it!).

For Everyone Ever Ripped Off By a Fry's Rebate

AUTHOR: Manda' - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 15, 2004

I worked in Customer Relations at the Fry's in San Marcos California. Let me tell you all! Not all of these rebates are a rip off!! I delt with the customers and the rebate companies. It is not Fry's who does not pay out the money, it is the manufacture of the product that has the rebate on it!! And as much as I don't want to say anything, Fry's gets ripped off too. Because they have to pay for 80% of the rebates that are not paid out by the manufactures! And from what I can say for the Fry's I worked for in San Marcos, we did a d**n good job of getting people their money back, if not gettig the rebate company to pay for it, we did. And it wasn't always easy espeacialy with all the attitude that comes from most of you customers. And I hated doing rebate duty as much as the next person. As for Columbia Telecomunications, they ripped off EVERY Fry's in the US with their bankrupsy more than they ripped of the Customers! So please just give Fry's a chance to pay you back your rebates, and be nice to the Customer Relations employees when you talk with them about it, half of you could never comprehend the stress they are under, and the stress I was under.

REBATE UPDATE

AUTHOR: Pam - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 04, 2004

After filing a report with the BBB in New York, I almost but forgot about my rebate, as I read in too many of your claims that the checks bounce anyways. Yesterday, I received my $25.00 check. However, now I am afraid to cash it.

I called the Bank of New York today to verify funds in the account, and was told that they had sufficient funds. Anyone else get a check recently after waiting for months and months? Anyone try to cash it??

Will update again after I cash the check...........
