Comcast is universally hated by their customers and it isn't hard to see why. If I ever have the chance to take down Comcast--whether that's through a class action law suit or supporting their competition, I will do so. Comcast's existence defies the law of a free market. Why is there no alternative to these bastards?
When I called Comcast, they stated over the phone that high-speed internet for my apartment in Decatur would cost $30/month. The installer quoted the same price. Then a month later I got my bill for $60.95 a month. I e-mailed Comcast to complain and there was no response. I sent in a second e-mail to which they replied simply "price may vary by location."
I explained to them that quoting one price when I agree for the service and then doubling it is fraud, that I would no longer do business with this company, and that I was willing to pay them $30/month for the service I had already received.
They responded by saying that I could not cancel my account without a long list of steps. However, they did not say that my offer of $30/month was unacceptable. So I waited for them to disconnect my service and then I wrote them a check for the price I had originally agreed to pay. The next day I got an offer in the mail from Comcast for cable internet and digital voice for $45/month. I can only assume this offer is another lie.
Comcast hides behind their customer service and employs contractors and sub-contractors to save costs. I think that their entire business strategy revolves not around satisfying customers but on securing a monopoly.
I encourage anyone reading this to boy-cott Comcast. Use satellite, use DSL, whatever you have to do. If you do make a deal with Comcast they will probably overcharge you, so give out as little information as possible. Above all, do not give these people your credit card number.

I am sorry... that is not right she told you that and they did not honor it (90% of the people in the call center know how to do there job... the other 10 percent are just there to collect a paycheck and don't care ~ most of the stupid people though are the outsourced reps). Yes, they do give out incorrect info. They way to fix it is to go into the office in person and talk to a manager. That way you can garantee you are not talking to a outsourced rep. Someone in the actual office should be able to give you that special if the rate codes are still in the system ( and they should be). Let them know what happened and the manager can make it right.

It's a free market and as far as I'm concerned Comcast can charge whatever they want. What they CANNOT do is lie about how much they intend to charge.
I was told by a Comcast employee when I scheduled installation that internet without cable would be $30/month. The bundle package that was quoted to me on the phone and on Comcast's website as $19.99.
If Comcast can get away with quoting $30 and charging $60, what's to stop them from quoting $60 and charging $200 or $300? This practice not only shows complete contempt for their customers, this is fraud and they should face prosecution.
Furthermore, Comcast's constant rhetoric of "we're sorry you were misinformed" just adds insult to injury. As if Comcast was not the one who "misinformed" me!

PRICE WAS CORRECT....IF YOU ALSO GOT CABLE/ IS A BUNDLED OFFER ............

I sense by the post you just had internet hooked up with no cable. If you do that the internet does not get any discounts. The price without cable is 59.95 + modem rental of 3.00. You can not just take part of a offer... and unfortunatly with the internet it is expensive if you have no other service. All Comcasts prices work that way... the more products you have the lower the price per product. The phone and internet is a valid offer... it is a bundled offer and is good as long as you keep both products. If you disconnected 1 of them the other would revert to full price.
Hope this helps explain what happened.
