First off, I take FULL responsibility for getting into this situation, so any one who wants flame me can just save their typing. Comcast is delaying the mailing of their disconnect notices to generate reconnection fees. Yesterday, the 29th of August, 2005 I recieved a notice that my service will be shut off if the don't recieve a payment by the 31st. The notice was DATED AUGUST 23, 2005 Tuesday, BUT IT WASN'T POSTMARKED TILL THE 26TH OF AUGUST, Friday. In the PAST I have been subjected to the reconnection fee because the notice was delivered one day, and it was shut off the next day by NOON. So keep an eye on you statement dates so you don't get ripped off.

or does everyone else know (excepted the OP, of course.) That disconnect notices are sent after the original bill has been sent and not paid.
Also even if you do get it one day before, you do know that you can pay your bill over the phone, right? (I did that when I got a disconnect notice the day before and the payment center was already closed.) It posts right then. No disconnect for me.

'So keep an eye on you statement dates so you don't get ripped off.'
Isn't that the purpose of 'statement dates?' You get them, you make payment by the due date, and you don't have to go through the foolishness of paying disconnect-reconnect fees.
No way would a sane person consider this a rip-off. If you don't pay your bills--you lose!

Here's the REAL DEAL

Just so everyone knows, there is NO OBLIGATION of ANY creditor to send ANYONE a billing, late or disconnect notice.
It's the consumers RESPONSIBILITY to know when the bill is due, the address to pay it, and the minimum amount of the payment.
As for the OP's insane attention to detail regarding how long it takes the postal service to deliver mail....complain to your local POST OFFICE!!!
Obviously the OP has access to the internet, so viewing and PAYING his bill on time shouldn't be such an issue.
The only ripoff is to the other PAYING customer's of Comcast, that get stuck with higher fee's because of people like this that wait for a disconnect notice before paying a bill.

Hey Naples snob, I have a job, and a newborn, I work at night. My lazy a*s puts in 40 plus a week. Port Charlotte is fine. I'm glad to see you so happy about houses being destroyed and six people dead. That tells me what kind of sick person you are. My husband looked at your post and laughed. He said your trying to blame Comcast for the fact you can't pay for services you get from them. Seems you need to get a better job so you can pay your bills huh? I got a great idea, PAY YOUR BILLS. Just to tell you I'm laughing at the fact you get so pumped up over my comments. Mental Hospitals have cable.

Since Carmine ISN'T able to answer my question about what this original post was reguarding, maybe your husband can. Please ask him to ask his fellow co-workers in billing, about why is there such a delay in customers recieving notices in a timely manner. THAT is what the original post was about. Granted, I had made mention that I was subject to the reconect fees in the past, but if Comcast was able to get the notices to folks in a timely manner, then they wouldn't be subjected to these fees. OH WAIT A MINUTE!!! I just realized why they mail them so late, so that they CAN get the reconect fees. NOW! I understand. All sarcasim aside, if your husband could answer the question it might be helpful. And YES, Naples is full of snobs, but I am not one of them. Hell, YOU might even live closer to Gulf acess than we do. And why don't you get out of your house and find a job, since you have time to surf the net and send in rebuttals at 7:10 am PSD which is 10:10AM EST. I DO look forward to your husbands response. And BEFORE you try to ask me how I can be writing this at this time of day, I'M on my lunch hour. HAVE A NICE DAY. P.S. NOW it's time to be mean, how your house doing after Charlie whiped Port Charlotte of the map last year.

I understand that you are frustrated with the timing of the mailings, however it would seem to me that (a) you would get a bill BEFORE a disconnect notice which you are apparently not paying; and (b) if you know the disconnect notice will come by the end of the month, why not pay? I can't understand complaining about a disconnect notice that comes late each month - it seems as though you should have a lot more to worry about, like paying the bills before final notices come due.

I am the wife of a Comcast employee in Florida. Please lady go to the Dish network and you can not pay your bills with them. My husband busts his butt for his customers and he gets a few of YOU PEOPLE. The special people who should be given a break over all. PAY YOUR BILL!!!!!! The switch on and off with a key stroke thing, LOL, the Tech has to hook you up manually like Carmine wrote. The customer service my husband provides is beyond what is expected. Like many of his co-workers. Comcast makes a good living and does not need a nit picking , non bill paying person. By the way everyone on this coast knows Naples is full of snobs that think they are special.

it sounds like if you keep getting past due notices it's because you don't have your stuff straight. and your inability to read the due date on the bill has put you on the bottom of the give a crap list at comcast.

Today I recieved another notice. This time it was dated September 22, A WEEK AGO, THURSDAY. And MAILED the 24th, SATURDAY. And it arrived TODAY, Thursday the 29th with a cut off date of September 30th, TOMMORROW!!!! It was mailed from Westbury NY, according to the zip code of 11590 that was on the envelope. "4" days to go 1325 miles? That SUCKS. So keep an eye on the notices. And don't let them TRY to rip you off. And Carmine, please answer this one in a way that we can understand.

quit complaining of the repurcussions of your failures. if you don't pay your car note do you get mad when they don't repossess the car in a timely manner. businesses have alot going on and having to coddle customers into paying their bill should be their last concern.

I will assume that you ARE NOT responding to MY original post, because I DID NOT write this in reguards to the RE-CONNECT CHARGE. It was about the time it takes for the notices to be printed out, then mailed. IF you would like to respond to THIS aspect to my post, I look forward to reading it. If NOT, PLEASE DO NOT respond. Because if you respond to anything other than the amount of time it takes Comcast to mail out the notices, I will not respond. I HOPE you would like to respond on this subject. If not, Have a nice day.

pay your bills

I'll start out by saying that i work for comcast. and the reason we charge reconnect fees is because we have to have someone hook your services up manually whether it be hooking up in an apartment box, on a pole, or underground pedestal. some areas have addressable taps where it can be done from the office, but not many. and being that we have to send someone out that costs money money to pay the salary of the field technician and their supervisors and customer service personnel. and mostly it is somewhat of a deterrent to keep us from having to go through this whole fiasco. alot of times when you go overdue they'll turn your digital box off followed by your modem. that's your fair warning.

Now the next step is avoiding it.
That being said.. I didn't realize Comcast was doing "reconnection fees", and that is BS in and of itself. To disconnect and reconnect your service is nothing more than a few keystrokes in their computer system. Back in the day, a reconnect fee was required because they actually had to send someone out to physically disconnect and reconnect your service.
I can understand this fee for someone like the power company or water company, who do actually have to physically disconnect your service, but phone and cable can be disconnected remotely.
Now, if they want to call it "Service fee for dealing with someone who hasn't paid their bill"... Well, that's different.
