I made an internet reservation on yahoo! to be there one week for a convention. Price 107/night except for 140 the first night.
THEY insisted on charging me 139 saying 107 was an "average" rate. corporate headquarters said "we'd LOVE to help you sir but you made the reservation through yahoo"
yahoo of course say they cannot help either. typical stonewalling
I emphasizie that this was not like priceline or travelocity. I did not PAY through yahoo.
Also these no-accounts charged me several different times instead of only once. parts add up to the whole but it shows how incompetent and screwed up they are.

Actually Yahoo has two types of reservations

Peter,
He may have actually made a reservation that did not require prepayment. Yahoo has "goodbuy" tags on the listings that require prepayment. Yahoo has other hotel listings where you just make a normal reservation and pay on checkout. They are usually listed on the last few pages of the search.

Actually, I HAVE made reservations through Yahoo travel, and was only able to do so by PAYING THROUGH THEIR SITE. So, I suggest you take a look at the reservation procedure. If the hotel charged you more than the quoted amount, and if you paid the hotel directly, then you obviously did not make a valid, confirmed reservation through Yahoo.

youve obviously never USED yahoo! travel. I did NOT pay yahoo anything there is nothing on my credit card statement from them. I only paid the Hotel and had to pay them much more than promised. I have put citicards on their case

place the blame where it belongs

What do you mean that you "did not pay through Yahoo"? The only way to make a reservation through Yahoo travel is to PAY for it through their site. Also, they clearly state the AVERAGE RATE based on the nights of your stay, and then provide the DETAILS (the cost per each night) so that you know exactly how much you are paying.
May I suggest that you place the blame where it belongs -- on YOU for not following instructions on Yahoo and not reading the information provided by their site. The hotel you are accusing has absolutely NOTHING to do with your dilemma, as you did not book your reservation through them.
