Commenity Bank/Pier One Credit Services Fraudulent charging of late charges that I did NOT incur. Colombus Ohio
I was convinced by Pier One employees to get a Reward card in August 2012 after I bought an item that was over $150. The first application for this Reward Card was denied (despite excellent credit 760+) because of a spelling error. Pier One advised me to re-apply which I did. It finally came through and I paid an initial amount of $55 for my purchase prior to ever receiving a bill from Comenity Bank.
The first part of this report is what I discovered on my Credit Report when I refinanced my house. For some reason, I had 2 Pier One accounts on all 3 credit report when I only should have had one. The Credit Union advised that I check why which I did. I was then told by Pier One that it just looks that way because Comenity bank took over the services of the previous reward card services. I asked them to remove one of the account which never happened.
I had about a $200 balance on my one Pier One reward card. I started getting bills each month where the minimum payment was $25 (as noted on the bill) which I paid within a day of receiving the bill. I always pay my bills on-time and don't wait for them to accumulate. One can see on my bank statement that I consistently paid Pier One $25 per month. The last bill (so I thought) I received was for $31 and it said "balance remaining" so I paid what I thought was my LAST payment for one item that I bought. However, I learned at the store that for some reason I still had a $93.94 balance.
I knew this could not be accurate so I called Comenity bank on 8/19/13 to find out what that balance was. The representative told me it was accumulation of late charges and told me that many of my payments were received after the due date written on the bill. I documented the fact that I paid Pier One the minimum payment of $25.00 each time I received a bill from them the same day or one day after receipt. There was no reasoning with this person and out of frustration I agreed to pay whatever fraudulent balance they had on me if they would just cancel my card and account. I realized shortly afterward that I let my anger get the best of me and should NOT have paid them anything as I am planning on disputing this amount and documenting everything I have with the President of Comenity Bank/Pier One.
I wrote this ripoff report after seeing a similar report written by someone who had almost the exact same experience as I have had with Comenity Bank. This IS a very frustrating experience.
