Beware of CMG-Community Management Group, an HOA management organization, if they represent a community in which you are considering to make your home.  RUN the other way unless you want to do business with an organization that is not compassionate, unethical, unresponsive, rude and inconsiderate.

In February 2015 my family rented a residence in Falcon Pointe a community CMG manages. About 2 weeks after moving in there was a parking violation sticker on one of the vehicles at my home.  I immediately contacted my landlord who referred me to CMG to obtain parking passes.  My home has a tandem garage and with the addition of my father’s vehicle while he was hospitalized, we did not have room to park inside the garage.  When my father became ill, the doctors informed us that he would no longer be able to care for himself and we had to move him out of his apartment while he was in the hospital.  My garage became a temporary storage area for his belongs.  I had no idea that I had to inform anyone if I was storing something in my garage.

When I arrived at the CMG Corporate Office in mid-February I explained to the Falcon Pointe Community Manager, Mr. Green, that one of the vehicles at my residence was in my father’s name and he was currently hospitalized.  I informed him that during my father’s illness, I used the vehicle the majority of the time. Mr. Green told me I would be required to provide a Power of Attorney, registration and proof of insurance.  He provided me with a seven-day temporary parking pass to obtain these documents. Unfortunately, due to my father’s serious illness and hospitalization it took time to get the required paperwork.

On Friday, April 3rd, I returned to the CMG Corporate Office and submitted the requested paperwork.   Mr. Green stated that it should just take a few hours and he will call me to come pick up the parking pass.  I asked him for another temporary parking pass and was told only one could be given.  Mr. Green did not contact me as promised.

On Saturday, April 4th my father passed away.

I called Mr. Green to follow up on Monday, April 6. He informed me that my parking passes had not been approved as of yet, possibly because of the Easter holiday.   Again Mr. Green promised he would follow up with me as soon as he heard something.  He did not contact me.

On Thursday morning, April 9th I left to go to work and walked out to find my deceased father’s truck gone.  Between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, I left FIVE messages for various managers at CMG and did not receive a return phone call.  At noon I received a screenshot of a message between my landlord and Mr. Green providing the telephone number for the company they had tow my vehicle, Ashley’s Towing.  The message also stated that my parking pass had been denied. When I contacted Ashley’s I was told it would be $320 to release my father’s truck.

Finally at 4:00 PM on April 9th Rochelle, a Community Manager with CMG returned my call.   Unlike Mr. Green, she was very apologetic about the situation and stated she would reach out to the management team to see what could be done.  She said she would also contact Ashley’s Towing and promised she would call me back before the end of the business day at 5:00 pm.  At 4:58 pm I was anxious since I had not heard from anyone and reached out to Rochelle to follow up. Rochelle’s attitude and demeanor had completely changed over the last hour and she conducted our phone call on speakerphone this time.  She was very short with her answers and matter of fact about the situation when she told me that I needed to contact my property manager or owner, as it was their responsibility to make me aware of the CC&R’s.  I again reminded her that I had come into their office on two separate occasions and spoke with Mr. Green about the situation.  Rochelle interrupted me to tell me it was not their responsibility and again instructed me to discuss it with my landlord.   She was adamant that the issue was between the landlord and me.

How could anyone be so calloused and unwilling to make an accommodation for a parking violation under the circumstances of an ill parent who ultimately passed away?  Not to mention the cost of the towing at a time when finances are so tight for the family.  Cleary the Management Team and Owners of CMG are incapable of being compassionate, providing any customer service or follow up with their residents.  As I stated earlier . . .RUN.
