In November 2006 a Southern Energy Home (Manufacturer) was delivered to my property through Dealer (Competitive Housing, aka; Better Housing). It was delivered with a broken window, a hot water heater that did not work, plumbing and electrical problems, and additional issues. It took Competitive Housing one (1) year to replace the window and drain the new hot water heater, replacing the heating element. The drain in the guest bath tub did not allow the water to prperly drain with the service manager telling me that was normal. The Dealer was to have a final walk through the house for all issues which needed attention, however that never happened. After many calls from me, without response a call was made to Southern Energy Homes in Addison Alabama. I was directed to a Mr, Britt Richards office where I talked with an Elaina, who told me she would send a reoair person out. The first repairman came out, looked at the issues, took pictures and left. A second call was made, a second repairman was sent out, he stated "there is not enough fall on the lines in the guest bath tub line", he replaced an electric box outlet on the kitchen bar, took notes, of roofing nails holding the carpet down, went onto the roof to check a leak into the kitchen gar light, stating
"it was just a little sealant problem, I fixed that". Then he proceeded outside where he stayed for about 15 minutesm returing and telling me he had fixed the siding which was loose. The carpet started rolling up like a blanet all over the floors, and fire flew from the dining room light. I called an electrician and paid $260.00 for replacing a lead wire, which was naked, and had to buy a new light fixture. I am left with a wall which has come loose from a door, leaving a 4" gap between the marriage walls, a 3x3" piece of carpet which was pulled up by my vaccum, and carpet in the living room which was cut too short and is coming up by threads. I then called Southern Energy Homes and spoke with Greg Speer, who stated none of this was their responsibility. Competitive Housing states its not their responsibility, therefore I am left with a House that is falling in or down. The final straw came when Mr. Speer (SEH) told me I would have to seal the roof every year. This is a 15 year shingled roof? I have contacted the Better Business Bureau in Asheville,NC and filed a complaint against Competitive Housing and their response to the BBB was "we have done everything under the warranty". I filed a complaint with the BBB in Alabama and am waiting for a response. It is very strange to me that Southern Energy Homes, last sent a repair person out on October 31, 2008, when the warranty Competitive Housing did not abide by ended in 2007. Then Mr. Speer stated "We can extend the warranty if we see the need" ! If I don't have a need, who does, Mr. Speer, Mr. Ed Sellers, Mr. Johnny Buchanan and Mr. Mike Reece. I will write again after several other things are finalized. Thank you.

The home was purchased for her by the state of North Carolina due to flooding. The county building inspector approved the work and issued a certificate of occupancy. Which means, it was ready to be occupied. There was also a state inspection done by the Department of Insurance finding no issues.
