Complements Day Spa Unfair to Employees

You should be aware that Complements Day Spa does not pay employees fairly. A paycheck I received over the holidays was $139 short. I asked the owner to sit down with me and go over the appointment book to see where the discrepancy was. She refused. She said, I will not do review of each payroll with you. She would only communicate by email and would not discuss the problem in person. She told me (via email) that some of the massages I gave were for free although it was never specific as to which ones or why were supposedly free or for trade. Even though I do not belong to a trade organization, she would randomly say some of the massages were for trade. I never received anything in trade for these massages. She said, I am not spending anymore time on this with you unless you pay me. Even though I am an independent contractor, she said, My house, my rules. A month later, another check was $22 short. I again gave her a detailed record of the hours I had worked and asked to be paid for what I had earned. The owner said, I'm done with you. I was fired with no notice and no just cause. I was only asking for what I had earned. Not surprisingly, my final paycheck was $40 short. Many other employees have also had trouble getting paid what they have earned. Beware of the owner. You will not get a fair deal
