I got stung hard! 5/24/2006 ordered a JetDirect network printer card for a Laser Printer. I received the card fairly quickly but when I got the card to my amazement it did not work. I tried it in another working printer and the card still would not work. I called them and told them the card they sent me was defective and is not working. They gave me an RMA number and told me to ship it back to them. They said when they get the card back they will send a replacement card. I said no problem. I sent the card back that day just as they instructed me to do. 5 days later I got an email from RICK saying that we got the network card that I shipped them but your instructions say to ship it A.S.A.P. Please call me at 310-642-8100 ext 122. I called RICK at that number and I told him to just send me the replacement card standard shipping. He said No problem, it's on its way. 2 weeks went by and I never heard a thing. I called and talked to RICK and he said, Oh here is the problem, were out of stock on that card but we should have some in next week. I waited 4 weeks and still no card arrived. I called COMPU-AMERICA back and was told that RICK is no longer with the company but to talk to ALEN.

Here is where the SCAM begins. ALEN is never available. I left him 2 messages and waited another week and still no call back. I sent 2 emails to the service department at service@compu-america.com with my order number explaining what happened and to please send the card or just get back to me on what the heck is going on. Another week went by and still no word from anyone. Just about 2 months has gone by since my first purchase of the card. I called today 7/20/06 at 3:00pm and talked to a woman who told me that ALEN was out to lunch and would be back in 30 minutes, would I like to leave a message again. I told her I have left messages for him before and I have never heard anything back. Reluctantly I left my name and number again. At 3:35PM I decided to call back. A guy answers the phone and I tell him may I please speak to ALEN. He says sure and puts me on hold. I was on hold for 42 minutes. Long enough to fill out this entire letterFinally a women picks up and says are you being helped?oh my God! I said I was holding for Allen and she says that he is not in right now do you want his voicemail? Oh my God! I turned around and called back again at 4:20PM and asked to talk to someone who can help me. I was then placed back on hold. After 15 minutes of holding I finally got a woman who picked up. I explain the whole thing to her and she says well I'm his secretary and I will track him down and get involved with this personally. I gave her my information and order number and she said she would get back to me about this.

This is ridiculous. I payed with my VISA $158.00 for the printer network card. I won't hear back from them, this is too routine! This song and dance has been played out so many times that they have become experts at screwing people out of their money.

So now I'm going to try and contact my bank to find out if I can dispute the $158.00 dollars. Next I have to find out if my prepaid legal insurance will cover a law suit and how much it is going to cost me. I see other people here has been screwed over as well so please feel free to contact me in the event we can get a class action law suit going. Thanks for your time and consideration.

PRACTICING CONARTISTS MAKING MONEY OFF OF THE RESTOCKING FEE!!!

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 20, 2006

I THOUGH ABOUT IT...AND THOUGHT ABOUT IT...AND THEN IT HIT ME!

ITS IN THE 20% to 50% RESTOCKING FEE!!!

(Compu-america charges a 20% to 50% Restocking fee when refunding you your money)

Its cost effective for them to just refund your money minus a 20% to 50% restocking fee instead of sending you a replacment part.

Heres how the scam works. 1, If you get the product and it is not defective or damaged and it works then you wont have any problems. However, if for some reason your product is deffective or damaged, you lose big time.

WHY? 2, because it will cost them shipping money and employee time to send you another part. They take a small loss. 3, So they will tell you to send the defective part back to them and they will give you a made up RMA number and will tell you that when they get the defective part back they will send you a replacment part. 4, When they get the defective part back they do nothing at all. When you call them they will tell you that they are out of stock and will refund you your money minus a 20% to 50% restocking fee.

They might even accuse you of tampering with the product like they did to me... Either way you lose 20% to 50% of your money. Its just cheaper for them to do it that way then it is for them to send you another part. 5, And lets say you get the part but it took forever to get to you and you want your money back they will be glad to do that because they just made 20% to 50% from the restocking fee..

Theres your restocking fee scam in a nutshell. Buyers BEWARE. I suggest reporting them to the Better Business Bearu Like im going to do.

according to the rating on price grabber dot com, compu-america has done this restocking fee quite a few times...and somthing tells me we have not see the last of these restocking scammers.

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 20, 2006

Today 7/20/2006 at 5:30pm eastern standard time, my presistance finally got ALEN to call me back on my cell phone. ALEN said that he was not going to send me a replacment part and that he would refund my money and charge me a 20% restocking fee. When I asked why he did not send me the network card back, he accused me of peeling back the label on the jetdirect card. When I asked him to please explain what the heck that means he said that I switched network cards with him. HOLLY SHEET! Are these clowns serious!!! Why in the hell would I do that! To make a buck or two??? I swear that card was the exact same card he sent me and it was not tampered with nor did it sustain any damage what so ever.

BUYERS BEWARE! THESE GUYS HAVE THIS WELL REHIRST, THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS.
