On Dec 21,2008,my wife and I went to a electronics liquidation sale.I viewed a laptop,a presario A940NR,with a 17 inch display.the description of the product stated that it had a 250 gb hard drive, but when I got it home,I charged the battery, and checked out the specs, only to find, that it had only 175 gb hard drive, with only 122 gb of free space!!

After chatting with an HP rep, she told me, that the model of laptop I had purchased, was only equipped with a 200 gb hard drive, and that if it was refurbished(which the salesman said it was) I should have 175 gb of free space.

I called the office in Cleveland, and the owner told me that the laptop had a 250gb hard drive, when HP said it only has a 200 gb hard drive. Then he hung up on me.So,now I have a laptop that doesn't meet the specs that they advertised, and if I return it,I have to pay a 20% restock fee. I feel, that I should get a full refund, on the basis of false advertisement.

This Customer is in collections!!! Consumer Fraud!!

AUTHOR: Compu Electonics - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, June 07, 2010

We (Compu-Electronics), made every attempt to make this sale with this consumer right, however, this customer thought he could get away with consumer fraud which backfired.  After a long and thorough observation of this computer and purchase from our company, this customer informed us that he found the merchandise cheaper somewhere else (which was the real reason for returning it) and then requested his money back after discovering our return fee in the agreed terms of sale.  This customer claimed that the description stated a 250gb hard drive which it clearly stated on the RETAIL BOX which he himself observed thoroughly and bought it from our booth showed only a 200gb hard drive.  He took it home and used it, and then complained about only having 175gb of hard drive which everyone knows that the manufacturer's load restore info. and software for recovery on all NEW systems.  We tried to explain this to the customer, but like always we are considered the bad guys.  Just to make things right and cosher, we offered to give the customer a 250gb hard drive for his trouble and for the confusion.  Guess what??  He refused and said that he didn't want it due to the real reason, HE DIDN'T WANT TO PAY FOR THE LAPTOP!!  He wanted something for free!!  That would be nice, but guess what, you have to pay for laptops and computers (NEWSFLASH!!).  In the end, this customer ended up keeping the laptop and attempting a chargeback because he likes to abuse the credit card system and purchase things with the intent of charging them back through his credit card company.  This needs to stop people!!!  Please purchase things with the intent of keeping them or selling them to someone else.  Please don't abuse the system with the intent of getting away with murder like this customer did.  This site was put up to protect the innocent, NOT USE IT FOR YOUR OWN ADVANTAGE!!

Thank you,
