I thought I would go back to college after I became disabled a nd try to get a degree online. I was contacted online by a company called AIU and thought this would be perfect for me. I didnt have to get dressed and try to get to school and I could go online and go to college which was perfect due to my condition which limits me from doing much of anything. Well after I hooked up another phone line and spoke with Jamie Garcia at AIU he explained that everything would be paid for through special grants and college disabilities and things that were available to me and I wouldnt have to pay for this out of pocket as I was on disability. That was not the case at all. I was talking to him on my one phone line and he had me go online with the other and go to classroom. After I went into the classroom that is where the problems began. I was charged immediately for being an active member and a college student. Everytime I had a problem I would call Jamie and he told me to log into classroom and he would help me, well everytime I did I had problems and then he had to put me on hold or said he would call me back to just stay in the room and someone would show up. No one ever did. I had been charged for everytime I went into the classroom and now I have a bill in collection with Sally Mae student loans that I will never be able to pay back. This has ruined my credit and now I can't go to a real college due to I have to pay this loan back first. I have read other reports of this AIU of course after I had problems and was already stuck in this finacial rut. It does say Do Not Go Into Classroom by others or you will be charged. I hope by sending this someone else will not make the same mistake I made. I wish I would have read this before even contacting them. I have contacted them several times only to be put on hold or yelled at saying you went to class so therefore you are being charged, you were a student and we don't do free services and you are the one that filled out forms and went to class. They are working on commission here people, there only goal is to get you to enter the classroom, they have no cares wether or not you are having problems or are needing help. There main goal is only to get you into the classroom to charge you. Please do not go into the classroom and get stuck with a bill like I did.

Very unfair to do this to anyone, let alone someone who is on disability and stuck with a low income. Beware people this is no joke, I wish to god it was. Stay clear of AIU.
