Paying for loans from Sallie Mae for both my husband and I. This school was a joke, a sick and twisted one at that.
We as a couple owe more than 50,000.00 to Sallie Mae and have nothing to show for it. I want our loans obsolved by the company, computertraining.
This so called school has ruined our credit. I am now in a situation where I have no career and no car. Our only option is bankruptcy, but even that won't do anything for the Sallie Mae loans. Also, I can't even afford the attorney fees to do that.
The payments are high and the intrest, I'll be paying for this mistake for the rest of my life.

Computertraining.com not accredited
AUTHOR: juju - ()
SUBMITTED: Saturday, October 19, 2013
If an instiution isn't accredited it can be discharged in chapter 7 bankruptcy. I went to one of the computertraining.com campuses. It didn't become accredited until two years after I left. Sallie Mae messed up. Check to see when the campus you went to became accredited.
The fact that the student loans in question were not to an “eligible education institution” under 26 USC 221(d)(1) and (2) means that the debts are not “qualified education loan(s)” under 11 USC 523(a)(8)(B), and therefore are dischargeable.

Dave's Castle Sold

He finally sold it.
Steven M. Wilsey bought a seven-bedroom, eight-bath home at 375 Brightwaters Blvd. N.E. in St. Petersburg from David L. Rau and Michelle M. Rau of the 375 Brightwaters Revocable Trust for $5.5 million on May 4, 2012.
OK, so Dave has no reason to even be in Florida. Concentrate on the Maryland area as I believe they have family there.
Someone will locate him so proper legal proceedings can be started.

Waiting game

I too was a student at CTC and 25k in the hole with nothing to show. The lawsuit was won but Sallie Mae was dismissed because they are a government agency. There is no way around this loan and i am afraid of dumping more money for lawyer fees that may not produce any outcome. I am still debating on hiring lawyers just to look into this than being one of those people that looked back to say "what if I did...."

Anyone have any luck in getting their loan forgiven?
AUTHOR: Melissa - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, May 09, 2012
My husband was also a student of this so-called school. He still owes Sallie Mae over 25k. We've received letters from the Class Action Lawsuit against ComputerTraining, but were told that loan forgiveness would have to bee done on an individual manner. We can't really afford 600-700 in lawyer fees for them not to guarantee him a loan forgiveness from Sallie Mae. Has anyone tried yet? And if so, what was the outcome?

Status Update
AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, May 08, 2012
It looks like Dave finally unloaded his mansion in St. Petersburg. A private investment firm purchased it in April. Selling price is unknown at this time. It had been under threat of foreclosure for some time so I suspect a short sale was done.
This now leaves the question: Where is Dave living (hiding) now?
I suspect the Maryland area where the home office of Computertraining.com was located, in Hunt Valley. If you're in that area keep an eye out on the web for any mention of his or his childrens names. That should make it easier to track him down for any further legal action. As far as I know he still has not declared bankruptcy.
It's not hard to forget how his victims are still suffering. Credit rating in shambles. Collectors hounding you day and night. You have a Computertraining diploma that has as much value as a piece of toilet paper. It's time to get some financial satisfaction in the courts.

Keep The Heat On
AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

As far as I know David Rau, the former president of Computertraing, has not declared bankruptcy and as such is a legitimate target for legal action. Check with your state's education commission to see if there is any relief available for the victims. They may have already filed suit in this matter.
If anyone knows the whereabouts of Mr. Rau please share the information here. It would be appreciated greatly.
Many, many former students/victims are sharing your same fate. You need to reignite the fire and get your just compensation. I have to wonder if Mr. Rau is attempting another go at this type of business. Lets hope not.
