I got a call one day with an offer for 4 magazines from CMOS(Consolidated Media Services) for 1 year, costing $33.13. He told me I could cancel at any time if satisfaction is not guaranteed. I accepted and got in the system.

The next week, they called back verifying a different situation which, somehow, I ok'd? They said that the billing would be $33.13/month for one year, totaling nearly $400.00. I was furious when I found this out. Tell me, what kind of idiot would pay $400.00 for 4 magazines? I don't think it is possible for anyone to be this dumb! Not ME!

So, I called them back to cancel the subscription. When
I called, the rep. wasn't around and the person told me he would call me back. I never got the call until a week later. In that time another withdrawal was made from my account for $33.13(change my card number the day after).
So I wanted to hear the recordings that they taped during the phone calls. He played the message about the $400.00 subscription and this is how I found out about it. I told him this is not what I agreed to, and I wanted to hear the first initial recording which I agreed to. He refused to play the first recording, saying "it wouldn't matter".

Since he refused to play it, I wanted to cancel the subscription He told me that I could not cancel because the magazines were ordered in advance, without my consent or satisfaction. He would not give a refund either. He tried eagerly to make me change my mind by offering me lower rates. I did not accept and he told me that I would still receive magazines. He also mentioned about the billing statements that would come after that, and eventually the collection agency would come into play.

So I have not spoken to them since September and have received two more bills. I have just received the second one today(Dec.16), which is now asking me for a monthly payment of $66.26 and I currently owe them $298.17.
What kind of company has the authority, over you, to change your subscription w/o consent or deny cancellation when they guarantee satisfaction. This is a scam and I want them out of business quickly. These types of companies do not belong and should not exist. I will seek action the next time they send me a bill.

We have a local action line(protect and resolve scams like this one)here and is probably the most active one. I still would like my refund and this is where "Action Line" will come into play.

Please add more about this company because it is happening to many people. All problems must be heard so we can act against the company together.

P.S. I read some of the other reports on CMOS and am glad to know that I am not the only one out there.
