I entered into a prepaid annual agreement with Constant Contact for a fixed dollar amount up front.  After I paid $972.56 Constant Contact decided they were going to increase pricing.  I contacted Constant Contact and they said the fine print allowed them to change pricing at their discretion with no option for a refund.  I paid $972.56 up front with the understanding I had an agreement for a year's worth of services and they arbitrarily increased pricing.  I read the multiple pages of fine print, but did not notice where they stated they may raise the price at any time, at their "sole discretion" with absolutely no recourse for the client.

Below is an excerpt from their fine print contract:

The Fee Schedules, including subscriber or contact levels, survey response levels, published event levels, fan levels, prices and any discounts, are subject to change at any time in our sole discretion, and if you do not agree to any such changes, you should contact us to cancel your account. 

However, if you cancel your account, their is no refund - THEY KEEP EVERYTHING....BEWARE!!

 

DO NOT enter into a long term contract with the belief Constant Contact would feel they are ethically bound to honor their pricing - dollars are more important than ethics!  The only thing guaranteed is they will take your money...please read the fine print and choose another email service. 

Donna Crawford, a manager from the billing department, was absolutely useless and did not address my concerns.  I felt insulted since she offered less than the salesperson - even the salesperson was more understanding.  I have a feeling that Donna Crawford doesn't manage, but instead is a connoisseur of fine print.  

I would suggest you take a look at the many other reputable competitors with more favorable pricing and great service such as Mail Chimp, iContact, or GetResponse.

Donna Crawford, the billing manager from Constant Contact, sent me another email explaining that she could delay the implementation of the price increase until Feb 2015 and give me a credit of $59.50 to cover the additional price increases from March until August.

I was very happy with the resolution Donna was able to eventually provide.  It was the principle that bothered me, I will now be staying with Constant Contact.
