I have an auto Loan with Consumer Portfolio Services (CPS) and have had nothing but trouble. To start with Customer Service reps are rude! I called CPS to make a payment over the phone and was told that the payment would not be accepted because I owed $15.00 because the last payment was $15.00 short, which is not true so I called back the next day and tryed to make a payment over the phone and was told no payment will not be accepted because I owed $15.00. I tried to get to the bottem of this and was told again that payment of $370.00 would not be accepted until 15.00 was recieved. Ok so they are going to refuse $370.00 twice over 15.00 that is NOT owed! I have a cell phone that is not even in my name, the phone is registered to my mother in law and she has 5 phones on her Cingular account, CPS some how got all phone numbers on her account and all the phone numbers that have been called from these phones and have been calling these numbers telling who ever answers that they are calling to collect on my account etc.... I called CPS to ask why they are calling people and neighbors that I dont even know and the customer service rep said those are the people that you gave as references. The funny thing is I did not know any of these people when I bought the car so how could I give names and phone numbers as references. I have had it with CPS so I called them on Nov. 2, 2006 and told them to come get the car because I was not going to beg them to take my payments, then the story changed and they wanted to accept payment. When my mother in law called CPS to ask them how they got her phone account information as this is a privacy issue she was hung up on 3 times, she called back and asked to speak with the legal Dept and again was hung up on. Please be aware when siging any papers with CPS.
