ContentShelf.Com, Content Shelf, ContentShelf They "Accidentally" DELETED ALL OF MY CONTENT and ALL OF my customer's info on file (INCLUDING RECURRING BILING ACCOUNTS!) - REFUSED to take ownership, WON'T RETURN CALLS - E-mailing threats of lawsuit if I keep asking them to retrieve the info! I Logged in today to see Why they FAILED to charge me yet for my first payment, as it was due yesterday and (I checked with the bank) they hadn't even attempted to bill me yet, and I had provided them with my billing info a long time ago (which I received VERIFICATION of)...

Much to my surprise, upon logging in, I am greeted by a message informing me that THEY HAD DELETED ALL OF MY CONTENT AND ALL OF MY CUSTOMER'S INFORMATION PERMANENTLY AND THAT IT CANNOT BE RETRIEVED!!! Allegedly because of billing (Which THEY HAD MY BILLING INFO AND NEVER ATTEMPTED TO BILL ME PER MY BANK!!!!!)

Furthermore, to see what the extent of the damages were because allegedly they had "downgraded" me - which WOULD IMPLY that they retained SOME of the info and kept it active in SOME capacity - I went on my website and clicked on one of my payment buttons......I am given a message that says "We cannot locate this store" WTF?!!?!?!?!? NO WONDER THERE WERE NO ONLINE ORDERS YESTERDAY - ONLY PHONE ORDERS!! (NOT characteristic!)

I have attempted to call and email them multiple times - NO RESPONSE....This was 10000% THEIR FAULT - if they are able to fix it i'll rescind this negative review..

Frankly - AT A MINUMUM they owe me what I typically generate on a BELOW average day in online orders (only missed because of THEIR actions and negligence) - and if they CANNOT retreive my recurring cust's billing than AT LEAST 2 months (I'm being generous bc most cust's stay on at least 6-8 months!) of recurring charges for EVERY customer they carelessly deleted and a some sort of compensation for the aggrivation and LACK OF RESPONSE - frankly I'm FURIOUS AND I WILL CONTINUE TO POST NEGATIVE REVIEWS OF THEM TO WARN EVERYONE I CAN NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM ON EVERY SITE I CAN FIND UNTIL THEY CONTACT ME TO RESOLVE THIS ...I NEVER post negative reviews about companies on these forums - usually only positive ones because I know what it's like as an online business and I know how harsh overcritical and unreasonable some of the "reviewers" can be - But This is UTTERLY RIDICULOUS

My company, on the other hand, has an A rating with the Southern Nevada BBB with 0 unresolved active complaints..

Authorize.net was also very interested to first hear - then see for themselves evidence of your "techies" going into my account through the credentials you were provided to provision your shopping cart services AFTER I had WILLINGLY severed ties with your company and tampering with/deleting customer records - apparently your "techies" aren't good enough at it to cover their tracks effectively.....

anyway, you may have landed yourself in hot water with the one thing that makes your crummy excuse for a shopping cart relevant - you should have just owned up to your mistake and made a good faith effort to retrieve the data you "accidentally" deleted rather than being childish and blameshifting - you may have just destroyed your company...

DON'T TRUST THEM - THEY DON'T EVEN DISCLOSE THEIR TRUE COMPANY IDENTITY - Go to http://www.BBB.org and LOOK UP "CONTENT SHELF", "CONTENTSHELF" - or even the url "www.contentshelf.com"

according the the BBB, FTC, and the state of KY SOS (Secretary of State) office (Where they are headquartered and ALLEGEDLY incorporated):


The ONLY way to find any evidence that this company exists beyond their website (no doubt to purposely hide the fact that they have a long history of companies that went under because Art and Charles DeVaughn perpetrated financial scams and FRAUD hiding behind the corporate vail, see below) is to go to BBB and look up a company in KNOXVILLE, TN (not Lexington, London, or Louisville as many search results will send you on a wild goose chase to believe they are in) called:

Web Services Corporation, Inc. (rather generic, no?)

it references an equally generic website www.webservicescorp.com that is aesthetically - extremely boring and archaic - probably on purpose - and if you dig through it your come across this page:


The one and only reference to Content Shelf's existence as a company....actually just a DBA (and not even necessarilly an official one, as the BBB, FTC, and State of Kentucky SOS have NO RECORD OF THIS ENTITY ON FILE!! (see these links))

bbb.org    search for "Content Shelf" or "ContentShelf" or "Contentshelf.com" - 0 RECORD ANYWHERE IN THE US

sos.ky.gov/pages/search.aspx?terms=content+shelf&affiliateId=SOS The Secretary of State Business entity search IN THEIR HOME STATE - 0 RESULTS - SEE ATTACHED SCREENSHOT AS WELL

ftc.gov and search under the same 3 methods as BBB site - NO RECORD OF THIS ENTITY'S EXISTENCE - see second attached screenshot....

Oh - the BBB site does mention two other oober-generic website names as belonging to this "Web Services Corporation, Inc" - neither of them are currently operational though. Google either one of them and you'll see countless allegations that those were SCAMS - FINANCIAL FRAUD SCHEMES - AND PREDATORY BUSINESSES - and if 2000 unrelated people all tell the same tale with no obvious common motive - it's PROBABLY TRUE....

Oh yeah - and NO MENTION OF "contentshelf.com" ownership on the BBB site....hmmmmmmm

Fortunately, my business practices are 100% honest, legal and - most importantly - ETHICAL......and I have well documented proof of all of this.. speaking of business practices and ethics...I noticed a certain company whom I had already - WILLINGLY- severed my ties with best known as ContentShelf.Com accessed my gateway API credentials nad MADE CHANGES within my authorize.net gateway account after I had severed my relationship with them as a service provider due to their erratic, childish (not unlike that pathetically catty and BOGUS "rebuttal", if you can call it that - more like a demonstration of the point I made to begin with about your company) - and downright careless practices.......


the Authorize.net agent I spoke with was rather interested to hear about - and then seemed rather appaled and alarmed to see (as your "techies" aparently arent good enough to even clean up their tracks properly) - clear and apparent evidence of - and bear with me I"m paraphrasing their statement - but I promise you there's no exaggeration "This gross misuse of access credentials" and stated that it is their policy that they "do not tolerate this type of behavior from a shopping cart partner" and that "they aim to keep their merchants safe from providers who engage in questionable business practices" and that this matter will be thoroughly investigated.


I guess your words were more prophetic than you had imagined Art "In such as competitive industry, a business that behaves the way I described" (as you behaved) "Can not survive that long"  -   here's a reality check Art - no authorize.net = probably no more content shelf (or a shell of what you currently are which isn't much) - you better hope they see this as a fluke...


Honesty and ethical practices are always the best policy! if you had simply owned up to your mistake and made the minimal effort to attempt to correct it by retrieving the data you'd be headache free, out of hot water and have one more paid subscriber on your to tier plan.....

I am truly sorry that you had a bad experience with us; it certainly was not our intention.

We have been in business since 1996, and companies don't survive this long in a highly competitive industry by treating clients in the manner you have described in this complaint.

Here at Content Shelf, we cancel accounts for one of three reasons and for these three reasons only. One, because the client chooses to end their relationship with us. Two, for lack of payment. And three, when our engineers and billing departments identify fraudulent activity.
