Received a notice today in the mail about my paypal account being overdrawn. Called paypal and my account is in good standing. They said they don't send these things to collections unless its overdrawn for several months and it's not this agency. The letter says I owe $121.18 but they will settle for 35% of it. I called the number on the paper and there is. I actual person to speak to but options to enter a bank account or debit card. To speak with someone I think I pressed 0 and got a voice mail that was full. Don't pay them! It's a scam!

This particular company is a real collections agency but that doesn't mean that someone isn't running a scam on you. I would report a complaint to the CFPB so you can get it taken care of right away. The CFPB will contact them to find out if it is a rogue employee or if there is an error in reporting under your name or SS# rather than the person to whom the debt belongs. Either way, you want to take care of it so it doesn't land on your CR and Convergent Outsourcing fixes it in their system. I'm not defending this collections company in any way. I am suggesting that you want to make sure they fix their info so you don't end up with a bogus collection on your credit report that isn't your debt. Good luck.
