Cool Solutions HVAC, INC Owner / Operator Jim Triola Unlicensed Shady Business Bethpage New York

I hired Cool Solutions to change my central ac airhandler and condenser in April of 2013 because my system was 16yrs old and i wanted to be proactive and replace it before it broke in the summer time. I should have investigated to see if this business was legit before i hired them. I hired them from a recomendation from a good friend, so i didnt give it a thought. The work that was done was not done by the owner/operator, but by an employee that did a great job. However the problem started when i asked the owner/operator for a rebate from lipa. When you retire an old working central ac unit, and replace it with a new efficient one you get a rebate from lipa for the retired unit and the new unit. My rebate was to be $1000.00. Little did i know the owner/operator is not licensed to operate a business in the state of NY. I will elaborate on that in a bit.

After the work was done and i gave my info for the old and new units to the owner/operator, i had not heard from him in about a month about my rebate paperwork being filed with lipa, so i called him and he said the paperwork was getting done as we speak. I waited another month and still did not hear from him so i called him again, and got the same excuse that the paperwork was being done. After a period of approx. four months and the owner/operator not returning any of my phone calls i decided to contact the suffolk county dept. of consumers affairs and i filed a complaint against Cool Solutions for not getting my rebate paperwork completed. I was contacted by an investigator, and he told me that Cool Solutions was not licensed to operate anywhere in the state on NY. the investigator contacted Cool Solutions and set a court date for them to answer for the violations of operating a business without a license, and for my rebate paperwork issue. i was finally given my rebate after approx. six months, and Cool Solutions had to pay fines and had to sign a cease order for operating a business without a license. To my knowlege this company is still operating unlicensed in NY. I personally know one of the employees that goes to work there everyday. My only other issue is who is going to repair this system if something goes wrong with it? It has a 5yr warranty on parts and labor and a 10yr warranty on the compresser. As always the customer loses.
