Copper Palms Apartments - Picerne Real Estate Group Horrible Apartment Community, Management from Hell RIPOFF Phoenix Arizona

I am no longer a tenant of Copper Palms Apartments however I am writing this report in hope that I will discourage others from making a mistake by moving here. The complex is completely falling apart but the main issue is the "Management"

Copper Palms are owned and managed by Picerne Real Estate Group. If you make a complaint to management, don't plan on having it addressed; they will only turn on you for requesting that they actually do their job. Dealing with other tenants in this complex is also hassle because they seem to let anyone move in these days, just to collect their commission.

Here are only a few of my experiences since moving in:

Oct. 2003 - Upon moving in I discovered live Magets in both the refrigerator and freezer. Reported this to the management yet they brushed me off as if I was making it up. They never sent a cleaning crew or maintenance tech so I had to clean it myself. I also reported this to the President of Picerne and never received a response.

Nov. 2003 - My neighbor's toilet flooded all night and went unreported. By the next morning her sewer water had leaked into my bathroom and hallway leaving at least 2 inches of water. I reported this to the management and they sent out a maintenance tech to pull up my carpet, fan it out and nail it back down, leaving the apartment smelling like mildew. This took 2 days to do in which I had to stay with a relative. The management refused to replace the carpet, they simply shampood it.

Dec. 2003 - My toilet began flooding just as the neighbor's did previously, when I called for maintenance assistance they would respond in the maximum time frame given, usually 24 hours or more later, even though this should have been treated as an "emergency" call. The maintenance tech did not know what he was doing and had to come out at leat 4 times, never fixing the problem. Again, I had to stay with a relative because I had no working toilet.

I again reported this to the President of Picerne, with no response. However, after doing this I suddenly came home to a new toilet (I was not told that this was going to be done ahead of time, therefore I did not give permission for anyone to enter my apartment). I thought that the case was closed, but nearly a month and a half later I receive a bill on my door for the cost of a new toilet.

So basically, the maintenance guy did not know what he was doing, probably messed the toilet up worse than it was in the first place and had to replace it. And for some reason I was expected to pay for it.

Jan. 2003 - I refused to pay for the toilet so was presented with a "5 Day Eviction Notice". After making a huge scene I eventually was let out of paying for the toilet.

Because of my history with this management, they obviously have some sort of resentment against me. They are now trying to keep my $200 deposit which was owed to me upon moving out. My lease ended on 9/30/04, in which I gave a 30 day written notice that I was not renewing my lease, and cleaned the apartment very well, in fact, better than it looked when I moved out.

I am now being told by management that I left the apartment in horrible condition and did not clean the refrigerator good enough!! That's right, the refrigerator that had Maggots in it. I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone.

I am currently waiting for a return call from a District Manager at Picerne and am demanding that my $200 deposit be returned promptly. If not, I will by all means seek legal assistance. I will write an update once I hear back from this District Manager.
