Boy, I wish I could recall what I was doing exactly when I was offered "free" magazines, as long as I'd provide my credit card number for verification purposes - and to cover shipping and handling, a "one-time" fee. At the moment though, I'm really pissed at a faceless, disappearing company called "NSS". Maybe why they are so elusive is to avoid lawsuits, etc?

Anyway, I had no idea that I'd been screwed until I got a call from my Credit Card Bank telling me I was way over my limit. Like $200 over my limit. OUCH. They then proceeded to tell me that there was a whole bunch of charges for magazines on my account. At the time I was more than a little confused. I couldn't imagine why I'd go and spend $200 on magazines - it seemed unlike me and quite rash. Anyway, after giving some thought to where these people may have gotten my credit card number I realized that I'd run across some sort of promotion online which offered free magazines - all they asked was that you pay the shipping and handling on them. Well, enthusiastically I picked out a ton of magazines (thinking they were all free) and gave my credit card number. Now, two months later I'm going to have to cancel my card (to avoid further charges) and dispute all the bogus charges. UGH!!!!!! If anyone ever tracks these people down, we need to report them to the Justice Department, and start a class-action lawsuit. Bastards!!!
