Recently got a debt collection letter from Cavalry listing Sprint PCS as original creditor. Well, I never had a sprint phone or any kind of account with Sprint whatsoever IN MY LIFE, so made my attempts to find out what this is:
1) Cavalry customer reps are absolutely rude, dont give any details. Had to call them many times.
2) Called Sprint, they said i had an account (cellphone) with them and when i asked them about the imaginary account details, they couldnt give any. Example, when I asked them what address you have for me on your file, i got 'I dont have that info on our system!'.

So, I never had a Sprint cellphone, I never got any letters from Sprint about any account, they dont have all my details in their system, BUT they are telling me I owe them money! COMPLETE RIPOFF AND TOTAL FRAUD.

Now I see there are many victims like me of this Cavalry/ Sprint scam and would really appreciate if the good souls of this world can guide me on how to deal with this evil.

Send a "Debt Validation" request via Registered Mail with Return Receipt to Calvary....This is simply a request to verify the debt as real...As you can imagine, Calvary is a very sleazy outfit and they'll probably ignore it...but it's the first step to take. Also, this company has a history of messing with credit files...They may have placed negative entries about this bogus debt in all three of your credit bureau files....You might want to pull all three reports from the credit bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion and Experian) to see they've done this...If so...Send via Registered Mail with Return Receipt...a Debt Validation Request to all three bureaus challenging this debt...By federal law they have 30 days to verify the debt.

If this comes back "validated," this presents a real problem for you. It's important to understand that the credit bureaus don't really care about the accuracy of what they report about you...Their main concern is profit and they want to do as little investigating as possible as it's expensive to spend time doing a thorough investigation...Often they'll consider a debt "validated" if a sleazy bottom feeder like Cavalry Portfolio just sends them a computer printout with something like your full name, account number and balance due....This does not prove anything other than the fact that Cavalry Portfolio has a word processor and a printer.

If this worst-case scenario happens...You're going to have to get aggressive about challenging this bogus entry on your credit report. I strongly recommending consumer advocate Budd Hibbs if it comes to this:
