I want to report what happened to me at the Cosmed clinic in Tijuana, Mexico by Dr. Quiroz because I think that this is happening a lot and that every time someone reports their experience on the web Dr. Quiroz and his staff get it wiped off.  A friend of mine is a web master and she told me that rip off report is the only place where he and his team cant get to easily. Please be aware that there are many more victims like me out there but their stories are not reported or are hidden.  I think that it is best to just start by copying here the report I sent to the California Licensing Board. It tells my story but by no means the emotion trauma or how badly botched the surgery looks now that it has healed five months later.

Dr. Quiroz  and Cosmed

To California  Licensing Board:

I was given a gift for christmas to have an abdominal plasty from the Cosmed Spa with Dr. Quiroz.  While setting up my appointments I was contacted several times by his office in San Diego to help with information and setting all the arrangements. I was scheduled to fly into San Diego and have one of the Cosmed drivers take me to their med spa in Tejuana, Mexico. I would not have been comfortable doing this except for the fact that Dr. Quiroz was a licensed, practicing  physician in San Diego, California.

When I woke up from the surgery I had a horrible head ache. This head ache was so excruciating that it was incapacitating and Dr. Quiroz could not give me anything that would alleviate the pain.  So I called my sister in the states because she is an emergency room nurse, and I asked her why I would have such a splitting head ache. I told her that I was given a spinal block prior to surgery along with full anesthesia, I was not told prior to surgery that I would be having a spinal tap and I never saw anything about that in the paper work.  She told me that my head ache was most likely due to the spinal tap and caused by a small tear occuring during the injection and that the head ache was due to the loss of spinal fluid.  She told me that it was a serious condition and needed medical attention immediately.  Dr. Quiroz went into panick mode when I told him what my sister had told me and he claimed no responsibility and would not offer me any treatment . He then had his driver pack me up and drive me across the border to drop me off at the emergency room door of Sharp Hospital in San Diego. Before being shoved out the door of the spa I asked the doctor for my medical records and he refused to give me a copy. He refused to give me any information for the hospital at all. I was literally dumped at the emergency room entrance, christmas day, by myself, and in the worse pain I have ever been in.

At the emergency room blood tests were done and I also had on my computer the blood test results that I had done in Houston, Texas before leaving for the med spa.  My blood tests prior to the surgery showed everything normal however the tests run by the emergency room after my surgery showed me to be so anemic that I had to have two blood infusions.  The emergency room doctor told me that I must have lost a lot of blood during the surgery which is very unusual for this type of surgery. I was never told about this by doctor alejandro and he would not give me any records. I am very upset that doctor alejandro did not escort me, himself,  to the emergency room in San Diego, he lives in San Diego and has a practice there and I was under his care when this happened. His driver dropped me off at the bottom of a hill, the emergency room was at the top with lots of steps to it and it was Christmas Eve. I just had abdominal surgery a few days before and I had to haul my luggage up this hill and up these steps by myself in excruciating pain and I did not know anyone and had no reocrds of what was done to me.  What Alejandro did was unethical, and heartless and completely in conflict with the hypocratic code that he had to take to get his licence in San Diego.  Since then he refuses to take my phone calls or emails. He should not be allowed to have a license to practice medicine in the state of California because he uses his credentials to lure clients to his spa in Mexico and then will not take any responsiblity if treatment goes wrong there, even if the life of the patient is jeopardized.

It would seem to me that this type operation should be shut down. Having a front in the US and then doing what you want in Mexico should not be sanctioned by any licensing board in the US.  I deeply believe  that Dr. Quiroz was not prepared to handle an emergency situation and that put my life in danger. It seemed to me that it was more important to minimize his liability than to treat me.

I believe that the licensing board of California has a responsibility to review situations like this and not allow doctors to appeal to patients by pretending to adhere to the US medical standards, but then they drive you across the boarder to Mexico and conduct themselves in whatever way they want with no cupability. They are using their standing in the US to lure people in and that must be stopped.

So there you have it,  I was dumped like a bad piece of meat and left to die on the steps of the emergency room.  Dr. Quiroz  and Cosmed

So there you have it. Dr. Quiroz had someone dumped me at the steps to the emergency room like a piece of meat and did not care if I lived or died and I very well could have died from what he did.  On top of that the surgery has left me deformed looking with horrible, ugly scars.  Beware of putting your life in this doctors hands because if something goes wrong you could die and he would not take any responsibility and you or family can do nothing about it.

Re California  Licensing Board Results

AUTHOR: bboop - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, February 11, 2016

Hello all, Here is an update on the results from the California  Licensing Board. I was curious to see what the results were from the filed complaint, and what I found out is that the allegations filed by Lori were not truthful. There was a full investigation and they dismissed and closed their file. The allegations that were filed against Dr. Quiroz were false accusations. LORI you should be ashamed of yourself. Just because you felt you weren't made perfect shouldn't of been a reason to tantrum. I am currently healing from my surgeries performed on 1/12/2016 and have not had one issue. Not one!!!! If anyone wants to see the letter I received from the California  Licensing Board contact me or you can call them yourself. I can also answer any question of my surgeries and picture if your considering going to Dr Quiroz. He is an excellent surgeon that will take care of you. Thank you Happy patient since 2004

Cosmed Clinic

AUTHOR: Gladys - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, May 17, 2015

Hello Everyone, I would like to share my experience at had at COSMED CLINIC and DR. ALEJANDRO QUIROZ. Weather it's in the US or across the boarders you will always have someone whom is unhappy with their procedure or results. I've know people in the US that had the worst botched surgery you can imagine. I went to Dr QUIROZ and had a full body lift, now I couldn't expect perfection since I wasn't perfect and had lost a bit of weight two pregnancies, but he did a fantastic work something i don't think i would of been able to get with certain Beverly Hills doctors i consulted with. Everyone reacts different to procedures and it is very upsetting that someone would make horrible comments about Dr QUIROZ. I've known Dr. QUIROZ since 2004 and everyone I have recommended have been happy and satisfied with their results. He cares about his patients and looks out for you even when you want procedures that he feel you shouldn't have. He will be the 1st to say, I don't think this is something that will benefit you. One thing to be clear is that no matter where your surgery is taking place, you have to be proactive and do your research not just go to someone because someone got you a gift certificate. There are many famous Beverly Hills Doctors that I'm sure are dealing with situations like this one, but doctors are not perfect and we as patience are not either. Obviously going to get cosmetic surgery is because your not perfect and if the standard are set super high you will set yourself with disappointment. If anyone would like to contact me I will be happy to answer any questions. Know that I will definitely be scheduling my breast augmentation and fat transfer. Who knows maybe a nose job as well. bboopgzc.1@juno.com. Thank you

Cosmed Clinic Dangerous to your health

AUTHOR: Lori betz - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, June 05, 2013

I wanted to follow up with the comments by the other poor soul who had an awful time at the hands of Dr Quiroz and Cosmed.  Please file a complaint wiht the licensing board of California.  If you add your voice then maybe something can be done or at least people wont be so trusting.  I would never have trusted this quack if he had not had a license in the start of California.  Just go to this web site and fill out the form  http://www.mbc.ca.gov/forms-pubs.html     It is EASY to do and very important that they know of all complaints.  This man needs to be held accountable  Please help.

I am also a victim of Dr. Quirroz

AUTHOR: exxquzme - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, May 14, 2013

I had my surgery with Dr. Q a few years ago. I also had a nonstop headache for about a week that was HORRIBLE! I also had a spinal tap (I did not know this was going to happen either).

One week after my surgery I had to go to the ER because I had a fever and my abdomen was red. I too had to have 2 blood transfusions due to being severely anemic. I was told that the anemia is what was causing my headache, although now I wonder if it had anything to do with the spinal tap.

I ended up staying in the hospital for 11 days and almost died.  I had a massive infection that was caused by a bacteria that is not normally found inside the human body (it usually can be found outside the body), which means that it had to be introduced during my surgery. The source of the infection was in the upper part of my abdomen where he had used the liposuction cannula (another thing I was not aware he was doing). I had to have a wound vac for the hip-to-hip-3-inch-wide open wound that I was left with for over 4 mounts so the wound could heal from the inside out.

All in all I have had 5 surgeries just to remove all of the infection and finally close the wound. I now have numerous deep scars where the infection left pockets of scar tissue that makes me look like I have three belly buttons.

He also did a breast lift at the same time. Under my right breast he wadded up the tissue and just sewed it up. I inquired about this right after my surgery and he said it would flatten out. It hasn't, it looks terrible. My nipples are no longer symmetrical either - there is actually a chunk about the size of my pinky nail missing from my left nipple.

One other thing he did was to give me a "Brazillian butt lift" that I did not ask for - how nice of him. I still have a flat butt but have really wide hips now that I did not have before. All of the fat was supposed to be added to my butt ended up on my hips and I cannot seem to get rid of it! I didn't even ask for the butt lift nor did I want one at this time!

I would not recommend ANYONE going there for any surgery. I was told by Dr. Q that infections happen and he was not responsible. The doctors I went to here in the US disagree and know this infection was created in the O.R.

Thanks for nothing Dr. Q.! I would rather have what I had before! He should be banned from doing business here in the US AND Mexico! This is not the first time I have heard of botched work he has done. How does it keep getting covered up??
