This is a weights and measures issue, so.......

The correct math is ESSENTIAL to determine where the rip off is!

I bet you round the figures in your checkbook register too, right?

And, the OP still avoided the question posed by both me and Coast on the year make and model of the vehicle. This is VERY important too, but was left out.

I bet this guy has a 16 gallon tank, not 13.

What's next?  Temperature compensating water meters?  How about temperature compensating liquid hand soap dispensers?  What about my charcoal starter?  Is there really a liter in the can when the temperature hits 10 F?

I can only hope the City of Buffalo doesn't get wind of this nonsense.

The cost of these temperature compensating pumps is going to be passed along to the consumers-how nice.

The amount of fuel loss they are talking about is not as noticable as the figures you gave, also these special pumps are not used yet so, nobody has them.

It was always known to me that you get less fuel in the summer and a little more in the winter so since I am living in the northeast, I figure it evens out.

Lighten up Steve...they were rounding.  I not commenting on the ripoff nature of the report, just saying that the math isn't far enough off to even merit a comment.

First, what is the year, make, and model of your car?
This is very important info that you left out.

Next, your math is very poor.

You claimed 15.00 gals. @ $3.17 was a total of $48.00.
WRONG! 15x 3.17= $47.55

Then, you claimed another purchase of 14.50 gals. @ $3.20 for a total of $45.00
WRONG AGAIN! 14.50 x 3.20 = $46.40

And finally, you claim 12.5 Gals. at $3.21 cost you $41.00.
WRONG ONCE MORE! 12.50 x 3.21 = $40.13


So, in recap, we have missing essential information, and 3 separate instances of bad math.

MY POINT IS MY CAR ONLY HAS A 13.00 GAL TANK THATS WITH THE RESERVE !!!!!!

UPDATE I WENT ON 2/9/11 TO PROVE MY POINT I TOOK A 5.0 GAL GAS CAN AND IT ONLY
GAVE ME 4.5 GAL'S BUT THE PUMP SAID 5.0 GALS
