Let me start by saying we LOVE Costco and spend a great deal of money there every month. It's an hour and a half drive to the nearest Costco. My complaint is only regarding the Tire Service Center.

Since appointments can't be made to get our Costco tires rotated, we asked when the best time to come in to have it done ought to be. They told us first thing in the morning.

So, Friday the 18th of October 2013, we arrived 22 minutes after they opened. (We intended to be there right at opening but got caught in road construction for a few minutes twice.) We went in and were told by the none to friendly "Butch" that it would be at least 3 hours until he could get us in and then it would take 45 minutes to an hour to do the rotation. He didn't say sorry or act like he gave a rats behind. It felt like he actually wanted us to say, sorry can't stay. We had medical appointments scheduled for 3 hours out so we couldn't stay and wait.

This was our third try at getting rotation at Costco Tire Center with the same result. Our Costco is situated where there is really no where else to go while one waits for 3 or 4 hours. We can kill an hour or so shopping while we get service but 3 or 4 hours is out of the question.

This amount of wait time is ridiculous. We can't just drop in and see if they're busy or not. Why can't they take appointments at least for out of town folks? We sure had no trouble when we bought our tires there. We're not going to go somewhere else and have to PAY to have our Costco tires rotated.

So bottom line for us is that is that this is the last set of tires we buy at Costco. We have a Les Schwab two miles from home that is happy to service us. Before I married my husband I used nothing but LS tires and they were always very convenient. They even came way out of town one time when I had a flat on the highway, to come and change my tire for me. And Les Schwab can be found in tiny towns all over the place. Not just in the bigger places like Costco. Much more convenient if you don't live near a Costco.

Final post on my part...

AUTHOR: phkat - ()

POSTED: Sunday, October 20, 2013

I'm not sure why you think you have to put me in my place when all I was doing was posting my experience. I didn't realize that I would need to defend my opinion, just because I had the nerve to post on here. You are the type of fellow posters that make it so hard to find trustworthy reports online now days. People, like me, don't want to be hassled for daring to post something the least little bit negative about a business.

But to clarify, as I said in the first post, we had appointments in Kalispell later. We did NOT go all the way to Kalispell just to get "free tire rotation". That would be not only dumb but not very cost effective either.

You rebuttal posters, can do whatever you like. I just thought that others may like to know the difficulties they may experience at Costco Tire Center. If waiting that long isn't a problem for someone else, great. I wish I would have known ahead of buying the tires that we would have such a difficult time getting them rotated in a timely manner.

Aren't you special

AUTHOR: coast - ()

POSTED: Sunday, October 20, 2013

I'm amazed that you would drive three hours round trip for free rotation instead of paying someone else that is only two miles away. I purchased my last three sets of tires from a tire store that is located between work and home. I did that to enable me to fully utilize the free rotation service that is included with the tire sale.

"All I'm saying is they need to make some sort of change so that people don't have to wait 3 hours to get their rig in to get their tires rotated. If this is their business model and they don't see a problem with it, so be it."

The wait time is what it is. It appears as though you think you're special and shouldn't have to wait like the other customers. That business model is why Costco is one of the nation's top resellers.

If you did have an appointment you would have been 22-minutes late so you would have missed the appointment. First-come, first-served is a universal policy. The road construction only cost you a few minutes so next time get up earlier.

Just telling MY experience and opinion

AUTHOR: phkat - ()

POSTED: Sunday, October 20, 2013

You know what? I was just reporting MY experience and opinion. You are welcome to your own experience and opinion.

All I'm saying is they need to make some sort of change so that people don't have to wait 3 hours to get their rig in to get their tires rotated. If this is their business model and they don't see a problem with it, so be it. Then I'll just go somewhere else that has a business model more in tune with what I see a better customer service.

I really don't know why you had to attack me and insinuate that I think I ought to get put in line in front of someone else. I don't think that and didn't say that. I'm simply speaking about their business model in the Tire Center. I figure that if they get enough customers that register their frustration with the way things are, perhaps they'll consider doing something differently.

So why are you so important?

Like any other tire place(or mechanic for that matter) they have only so much space in their service area.   So why should they take you out of order and make someone else wait longer?  As for taking appointments for "out of town" folks...okay so what does it take to be considered "out of town".  10 Miles away?  20 Miles away?  50 Miles away or exactly as many miles away as you live?

Oh and as for you having no trouble getting the tires, the last time I checked on how long it would take to get tires..they told me about 2 hours, and I am in an area that has 3-4 CostCo's within a 15 minute drive.  So perhaps you got lucky and hit them in a "slow" period.

Then as for your other store that can be found "all over the place", again I am in CA and have never even heard of this store.   So in seeing where they are the closest one would be about 250 miles away...I wonder if that qualifies me for being "out of town" folk.
