I initially called Cottman's to get a price quote by Charles (who changed his story on the warranty length and price to get my business) I got no answer. Charles called me back via caller ID and suggested that the price would be lower there and he would tow it there for free. This sounds like a good deal right?

My transmission was 'repaired' a year ago by Cottman Transmission located on old national highway, which is now closed. The vehicle they worked on was not repaired properly, if at all. Extreme circumstances put the vehicle at the lowest priority for several months. I did however try to contact the home office via certified mail more than once. They did not respond to ANY mail or return ANY phone calls.

Eventually, when I could deal with the vehicle again, I had it towed to the Cottman's on Buford Highway, due to the eviction of the Cottman's on Old National Highway. I have spoken with other people who had their vehicles serviced by these branches around the same time and was shocked to find there was more than one person with a similar story. I have discovered that Charles(..and remember this name. . . ) is the same manager that everyone has had to deal with. The guy could not keep a story straight to save his life. He lies constantly and convincingly. I am guessing he is able to do this because he simply does not give a $h!*. I can't completely blame him, the entire franchise is in question and when you don't fix vehicles, not even half-assed, you probably have to lie constantly to the angry mobs, enough to make it second nature. That being said..I am part of that angry mob and this mess is partly his responsibility (the majority rest falling on the Company).

As you might be guessing, the vehicle is not fixed and is in fact much worse..the hood will not even open and something is now wrong with the steering. Charles had called just a day before he had it towed(which I payed for) and said it was driving fine. When asked why it was not working after he admitted that he did not test drive it. 10 more minutes into this conversation and he changed his position back. This is one of many examples of the kinds of conversations you get to look forward to if you employ their wonderful services.

I am now afraid to have the vehicle anywhere near this place for fear of what else his workers could break. Luckily I have a record of the miles driven and an independent shops evaluation of the vehicle before it was further damaged by Cottmans. Charles said the transmission was fixed now..but that remains to be seen, since the vehicle cannot be driven.

See their code of ethics! ---> http://www.cottman.com/code_of_ethics.cfm

That was certainly not what I experienced!!!

A Hillarious quote from their website...

"You see, at Cottman, we know YOU have more important things to worry about than your transmission." (things such as finding a good lawyer)

I know this is a long report and cheers to you if you read all this. I just wanted to leave you with a thorough warning.

I know it is a chain and it seems like a good idea to be able to get your vehicle repaired anywhere. From what I have read, people all over are having the same problems. Something must be wrong with the source of all these franchises. I was hoping to avoid the court to get this matter resolved..but I think that is what it is going to take to get a little consumer justice.
