A man came to my door to sell me meat. I usually resist these people--but I was headed door in a hurry and my cats were all over this meat. He showed me chicken and convinced me to buy it. He gave me a pamphlet and showed me the name, address, and how to order more meat. He also told me that he would come back the very next day by 11:00 AM to trade two of the flavors of chicken because we did not want those flavors. I received a receipt written on a credit card slip-- it states the date--the man's name--my check number -- and a statement that says "2 roasted switch for 2 others". This man has not been back to switch the meat out. All calls to the company are received by an answering machine.
If the man would have come back the first day and switched the meat out-- I would have chalked it up to wasted money on too highly priced meat-- but since he did not come back or attempt to contact me-- I exercised my 3 day "Buyers Right to Cancel"/"Michigan Home Solicitation Sales Act".
I contacted the West Michigan Better Business Bureau -- who told me to contact the State Attorney General's Office. Upon the advice of an Attorney General's Office employee--I put a stop payment on my check and sent a certified letter to the company on the next day. Today (4 days after the stop payment -- 5 days since the sale), I was contacted by my bank and told that my check had been cashed on the same day that I wrote it--even though they had taken my stop payment fees and attempted stop payment on the next day. This man actually left my house and went directly to my bank and cashed my check. Country Choice has not signed for the letter yet--notice has been left at the company per the US Postal Service.
All attempts by me to contact this company are not answered. I have filed complaints with the State Attorney's General Office and Better Business Bureau--we shall see what this company does to rectify it. Attorney General's Office told me that I am probably out the $147. It is a matter of principle now-- I am ticked off!
Please don't fall for this no matter how slick the meat guy is.

got a check back--must be persistant

I did receive a check back from the company-it was my persistance that did it. I called the company repeatedly and held the line as long as I could to use up their answering service space. I also got a company owner name off of our state's corporation website and contacted that company owner - hey--they are the people who put the address of the registered office on there. If you have a moment of weakness like I did--be sure to be persistant if you want your money back.

Wow,
Why did you purchase the meat if you thought it was over priced. This doesn't really make sense.

Say--I was searching the Michigan Corporation website--I found the company on there-- and the owner's home (?) address--maybe I should send a complaint there?? If anyone else gets scammed by Country Choice---look it up on the DLEG website--send papers to each address. Still working on this.
