covenant transport not only made my life miserable while my husband and i worked for them but they're still doing it. you can't imagine my surprise when i received a bill from a collection agency saying i owe them money. for a flat tire, mine you, on a trailer that they own. we haven't worked for this company in 2 years. i went to pick up a load in la mirada, ca. and when we got there the trailer was already loaded and had a flat tire that was so bad it had to be replaced. but covenant wanted us to move the trailer 10 or so miles down the highway to have it fixed at their shop. folks, the trailer was leaning and couldn't be moved. and a road service had to come out and replace the tire. now they want us pay for it. this company will do anything to get a dollar out of you. i had the collection agency send me all the papers that pertain to this charge and guess what the charge back report was never approved by their safety dept. or their payroll dept. but try to talk to anybody in covenant, they can't tell you a thing about it. and "please!" don't try to get any help, because nobody knows anything. i wouldn't let my dog work for these people and would never recommend anyone to work for them.

Here's What To Do...

AUTHOR: Anthony - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 09, 2008

First of all, send the collection agency a letter by certified mail that you are not responsible for anything surrounding the claim, that you do not intend in dealing with them regarding the claim, that any adverse entry on your credit report will be met with swift and stern litigation, and make it clear to them that they are to never contact you again by neither telephone or by mail regarding this matter in the future.

Send a copy of that letter and one addressing Covenant Transport directly, to their Corporate offices in Chattanooga, Tennessee dictating the same terms. Make it clear the circumstances that the tire was flat when you arrived to take possession of the trailer, and that you are not in any way responsible for a dime related to the replacement of it.

Further advise them that any adverse action taken through USIS/DAC Services, Inc., to make this part of your permanent record, and if ever disclosed to another potential employer will be met with litigation and a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission for reporting false and misleading information via a consumer credit report.

Do those two things, and the matter should disappear. If it doesn't, then you may well want to seek the advice of an Attorney.

This is the second instance I have read in a month where Covenant is attempting to make former employees pay for repair items on their equipment. Apparently they are attempting to extort money from ex-employees to help pay the bills, because that awful company cannot recruit people to drive for them.

Don't let them get away with this for another minute. Hit them back, head on.
