I was warned the entire time being new, don't listen to the recruiters, they will tell you anything to get you in. I didn't want to believe it, but boy, was I wrong. If you ever think about going with Covenant, and have the pleasure of dealing with a recruiter Teresa Miller, get everything in writing.

Before I got my go ahead to come in, because of a medicine I was taking, I needed a note from the doctor from back when I was cleared to go back to work. My school sent it in not once, but twice, being she was known for misplacing things. I called her back and she said everything was fine to come in.

I questioned her one more time to make sure she didn't need anything else. She said nope, come on in. I went through orientation. Monica who did orientation said if you had to get medical clearence and you get your physical back with an employee number, then you are good to go. I got mine back. I was happy.

Last day, we went to Personnel to sign paperwork and lo and behold I needed a medical clearence. I told them that Ms. Miller said everything was okay which is the only reason why I took the bus ride to TN for orientation. So, I assume since everyone blames the recruiter, they called her up to face me, to see if I would still blame her. When we did, she hurried us into an office so nobody else could hear. This woman could not backtread any quicker.

She tried telling me employment was not guarenteed since we had to make it through orientation. I said I passed everything and this was the only thing to hold me back in getting a job. I questioned her since she says she got my medical cleared by "someone".

I asked who "someone" was. Of course she babbled and did not know. I made it simple. I asked was it male or female?

I was sent home to get my clearence. My doctor finally signed off. Sent everything in. It was not good enough for them. I asked if they were quoting the law and if so which statute. They kept saying DOT regulations. According to DOT regulations, I am clear.

Now someone on their staff is playing doctor making all kinds of things up. as to the frequency I need to have bloodwork done. She says every other week and it is not true. It is every 4-5 weeks. Now being we would get one day off for every week out, I would have my time saved for one day at the doctors.

I quoted the exact statute and the wording. Then I get an email from Ms. Miller since I sent the email to everyone I had been dealing with including the Owner of the company. Did he write back? No, but she did, without copying anyone wanting my number to call me. I told her she can email me. Heck, I learned, get everything in writing.

Now, I am looking into with the ADA maybe or an attorney to see if I have a case maybe.

Anyone have any suggestions? I am open to hearing them.

I agree

AUTHOR: Jadedandleftfordead - (USA)

I agree with you 100%. I had her also and she told me all kinds of nonsense about home time, and pay rates that were incorrect. Your best bet, find another line of work. Trucking company's eat their young.

Ms.Teresa Miller. Recruiters Neightmare

AUTHOR: Arthur Robinson - (USA)

Ms. Teresa Miller was assigned to me through Roadmaster Truck Driving School.  I am a graduate of the class of 49. Graduated January 8, 2011.  I was prehired November 2010 by Covenant Transportation with one disqualification, as stated by Ms. Miller in the prehire, "Failure to pass the Long Form Physical would render employment null and void.  Prehire is one of hte conditions set forth in the financing restrictions set forth by the financing company's' represented by Roadmaster and as one of the many conditions that were to qualify me for enter Roadmaster as a Student.

Post Graduation, january 8, 2011 I contact Ms. Miller for orientation at Covenant.  Ms Miller replied that I was not eligible for employment because of my Motor Vehicle Report.  This Motor Vehicle report existed in November the original date of the Prehire but in January it became of reason to Breach the contract of employment entered into in November, 2010.

Covenant Now is of the position that employment is not guaranteed until the orientation process is complete. If this is the stance of the company why did they not state that in the prehire?

I am of the opinion, please correct me if I am wrong, that every carrier prior to hiring  candidate for employment, pursuant to DOT and FMCSA is required to do an investigation of the candidate's  Motor  Vehicle Report, Criminal background check, Drug Screening and Medical to see if the candidate is Physically able to do the job without posing a danger to the public.

I am looking for guidance and help in the area of employment, despite the horror stories I am finding  on the web and hearing in the truck stops concerning Covenant and other carriers.

I am of the opinion that the recruitment agencies, bottom feeders, and some of the trucking schools are in collusion, especially Covenant and Roadmaster, so be careful out there.

The prehire seems to be nothing more then a carrot dangled before those wishing to enter trucking school and to get the financing for class.  Diamond State Lending the  Finandeign company used by Roadmaster for financeing for those who do not qualify for main stream financing, requires each candidate to have a prehire prior to being eligible for financing.

They will do anything to get you.  Cover Your A.  Get everything in writing.
