Covenant transport they just keep getting worse and worse.. Internet

    I have had quite a history with this company and unlike many of the complaints I find here;my problems were not brought on by my own fault and I can honestly say there were times I thought this company was quite good;and I would have recommended them to beginners. I had a bad experience with another company who had poor training and Covenant gave me another chance and though their training was also not the best,I actually made a lot of money during that time,3 years ago(more than many drivers who've driven for years)..I still needed help in some areas and was lucky to get a codriver after my upgrade that I learned from. At that time the company only forced trainees to team for a month after their upgrade,but I chose to stay teamed for 6 mos because it was Winter and thought it would be best..

  Spring came and I planned to go solo and my codriver wanted to become a trainer. He was constantly lied to about being made a trainer while others with less experience were made trainers and after waiting a week to get a solo truck; I was told because of where I live in Central Ny,I could not be in the solo division due to a lack of freight there to get me home. This made no sense because there are 3 Walmart dcs in my area and a FD among many others that were customers and whenever I went home they always found me loads shortly after I said I was ready to come back out..besides my codriver was from IL and I would run solo a week after he got off and a week before i picked him back up usually..

I was told I needed to get a new codriver but in the meantime allowed to be solo..the truck had continual break trouble; several times in a week that they could not get fixed;finally I said 'I need a better truck,if I'm going to team'..I had given up arguiing with my dispacher Eddie Lyons,because nothing would ever be accomplished he would lie.get rude and say whatever he needed to keep you quiet and not pay money that was owed for doing a repower or get an mt trailer out of route etc..I started going over his head for everything,and even with his boss it would take 4x usually before I finally got paid..finally I got tired of it and when I got a new codriver I also got a new dispatcher..

  I had problems with various things in the company but overall I remained,but had strongly been thinking about leaving because I had wanted to be solo,and I could never be solo here;besides they were starting to take away bonuses and several other things in the pay package..they were also saying everyone now had to get hazmat certified; where they used to pay extra for having it and even to get it;now they just said you had to have it and paid less..

  I had recently gotten a new codriver; both of my previous ones I had managed 6 mos a piece with. They were far from perfect but I decided they could be a lot worse and put up with a lot..but this new one I learned had tourettes syndrome and idolized serial killers; he would go into truckstops with a big graph and draw pics of people being murdered and someone he didnt like would be the next victim..this guy had a lot of issues and I tryed to overlook or help him etc,..

Well.when I was on hometime for Easter,and had planned to take my hazmat test the next day..this codriver kept calling my home and telling me something was 'going down' and he was gonna come to my house and get the truck(he lived about 5 hrs away) and another guy telling me I 'needed to get back to work.." which I realised later was this guy's father who didnt even work for the company..I was now totally disgusted,because he and his father showed at my door..I called the company and they told me to tell him to go back home,because my hometime was not up..I decided instead to let him take the truck and quit the company..the next day the dispatcher said I tryed to lock the codriver out of the truck,which I didnt and that I could take the hazmat test the next time I was home. I could not do that because I had studied now and because the fingerprints had to be done..anyway I decided I had enough;but still didnt feel this company was as bad as many have said here..

After a year away from this company I found myself going back..I should've known better..I got out without being ripped off too bad the 1st time..it got way worse the 2nd time..will continue my 2nd response in another report..
