Ashley Olstad buys lame and sick horses from low end auctions on Sunday and then turns around and puts them up for sale on Monday. Her descriptions are full of lies. She says she vacinnates, trims, shoes, worms, etc these horses when she does not. Every horse she sells seems to be "kid proof". Well of course they are. They are on death's door and don't have the injury to do anything but walk. She tells everyone she's a reiner. She isn't. She tells everyone how experienced she is...she isn't. She's good a taking advantage of rookie horse owners because they don't know any better.

She breeds the horses she rescues to horses that have no business being bred. The facility she keeps the horses in is not kept clean. Most horses stand in 4-6 inches of their own manure. She moves her facility often because she's been kicked out of every boarding facility in Davis/Woodland.

She takes money for horses she says she is rescueing when in fact she plans on keeping the horses herself. She says she's a member of the Yolo Possee, but yet she doesn't have a horse that quailifies to be a possee horse.

She will cheat you out of your money if you don't know what you're doing. Always get a vet check if you insist on buying a horse from her.

I noticed recently that she has stopped listing her name on her internet ads because too many people know who she is. She won't give out her address because too many people are trying to sue her for misrepresentation.

She doesn't hold a job for very long and therefore, with no income she shouldn't be taking in horses that need vet care and training.

From Ashley

AUTHOR: Jigsaw - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 20, 2008

Normally, I do not give these things the time of day, but a good friend sent me the link, so figured I should say something.

1) I NEVER refuse anyone a vet check or a trial period. So, if you want one, take advantage of one.

2) I have never knowingly sold a sick or lame horse without it being disclosed prior. Every single one of my sales contracts has a initial line for a sold as-is or you initial that you want a vet check, THE BUYER CHOOSES, not me!

3) I encourage people and I will make the time for appointments if people want to view the horses more then once. I can't make someone buy a horse, it is their choice.

4) Yes, I did use to show reining horses, not large scale, just what I have time for. Not sure what that has to do with selling horses?

5) I have not been to the auction to purchase a horse in over 2 years! This was posted April of 2008. I started working Sundays as of June 2007 at which time I have been to auction twice since then and not for purchase for myself. I believe (off top of head) my last auction purchase was November 2006.

6) Also note, that in my entire horse career I have only EVER bred one mare, my cutting mare, to an outside stallion who threw a gorgeous registered AQHA baby. Yes, I bought a stallion at auction, but never bred him, I wanted to breed a personal mare to him, but she was not breeding sound, thus did not, however that would have been for me to keep!

7) I have been around horses since I was 18, I never hide that fact. So, I am only experienced in the areas I have put the time and effort to make myself experienced in. If anyone asks me how long I have been in horses, I tell them. However, I have taken the time and energy to watch trainers, go to clinics, read books, and learn everything that I possibly can.

8) You mention the posse. I do have a qualified horse, have since I joined! Still own my original sheriff's mount that was owned by me (the first one I joined with was leased). I now have a qualified paint gelding. And before that was my grey reining mare. I have never missed an even unless it was due to work. I have been a member for over 5 years, on the board for 3 1/2 at this point.

9) There is a reason why I have horses listed under my name for sale, that is because I do not have any. In 2008, I have only taken in a couple of horses. One was a dumped boarded horse in her 20s and the other a feedlot rescue. Both went to their homes for 1/2 of their bills here and I have the records!

10) I have NEVER hidden my records from anyone. I have always stated that my farrier, vet, etc bills are open to those that wish to see them. They still are. I also still have a vet bill and credit card bill from all the rescues I did that are not fully paid, just make my payments. I have NEVER made any money off the horses in one year and anyone that is into horses should know that. It is impossible. I might have brought in a little extra on one or two, but that was to help those that needed major vet work and I lost thousands on.

11) I found the not giving out address comment interesting. How else do I show the horses? They all found homes and someone had to drive out to see them!

12) And what do you know about my job history? I have been at my current position for a year and a half. Before which I was the probation dept for almost 2 years. I am young and wanting to move up in my career, so yes, my longevity isn't 20 years in one spot, as I am only in my 20s! And before probation dept, I worked as a waitress for about 3 years. Before that, I was in HS! I have had quite a few part time, seasonal, etc jobs, but that is how it works when you are a teen or no college degree. Getting something above minimum wage was great! Again, none of any of your business, but I am not out to hide anything. My life is, what it is, and I am not ashamed of it!

13) I have plenty of personal references, including those that have horses of mine, if someone would like to see them.

I think I covered everything?

I always notice that these posts are by alias names? Never a real name. No one who has bad mouthed me has ever wanted to step forward and identify themselves. Why is that?

Those that tried to ruin my reputation on craigslist and other websites such as this never will come forward and discuss anything with me, just tell me what I am with some fake email address and name. I know what I am and quite proud of what I have accomplished. What have you done lately to try and make this world a better place?

I have been threatened with court, but yet, no one has ever filed! Maybe that is because you know you will not win. I have all my records for anyone who wishes to see them if they want to challenge my integrity. I was threatened with animal control because I wasn't feeding my horses, yet no one was ever called! (and I had a whole stack of hay on property)!

PLEASE SHOW ME THE PROOF!!!

Every time any of this comes up when I tried to place horses, it only helped, so for that, I thank you. I get the questions asking about my "skinny" horses or my "un-vetted" ones. I challenge people to come out and view for themselves, and they do, to prove my horses are fat, healthy, vetted, and feet done! Last time you tried this, almost all of my horses got adopted from the attention you brought to my website. So, again, thanks.

I am not sure what will ever make you and your friends happy?
I no longer rescue horses to the extent that I do, only if I get a desperate call. I do not advertise, I do not have a website, I offer vet checks and trial periods?

Anything you have ever said I don't do for my horses, I do (vet, farrier, etc)!

SHOW THE PROOF! I was reading what this website requires to post and one thing was that is stated was being able to show proof!

The thing with rescues, even if you have them in your possession for over a year, you cannot always know what is going on with them, their history, problems, etc. They are a "gamble" anyone buying a rescue whether it be from a non-profit adoption agency or a private person, should understand that. Anything could be in that animal's past good or bad and if you love the animal and taking it to give it a home, you should take it all.

I still have my first horse, as lame as she is, she is retired to pasture living her life. I only got to use her for 2 years before full retirement set in. You cannot guarantee anything in the horse world.

I can in one way or another show proof to what is listed above. Some might need to be in person, but I can. You however cannot.

And before you bring home any animal, if certain things are going to make it so it will not work for you, then you should thoroughly check those things out!
