On the last of November or the first of December, I received a phone call from CR Bancorp offering an unsecured credit card. The company told me at that time that I did not have to worry about the one-time registration fee of $149. The entire application was quick and easy and they promised me that I could make payment arrangements for the fee of $149 but two weeks later I found out that they had taken their fee out of my checking account. I was foolish to supply my bank information but I did not know that they would go into my checking account without my permission.

Last week I received my monthly statement from my bank and sure enough the draft is on there from CR Corp. I have not received a credit card and of course I know I will never get the $149 back and I pray to God that I am the last one to be victimized.

Shame on them. I hope they lose their business and their jobs as well. Actually I hope they get ripped off just the same way they are ripping off good people like myself and all the other people that were ripped off.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

change your bank account number

AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 12, 2004

Access www.ftc.gov and Refund number 1-562-989-3730

The first thing you need to do, if you haven't already is to change your bank account number. Write a letter to your bank making it very clear that CR Bancorp is not authorized to place any charges on your account.

This is one where you might consider visiting the Federal Trade Commission site: www.ftc.gov, because this might be illegal. According to the law in a number of States, credit card companies are NOT allowed to charge an upfront registration fee.

For any other fees like service charges and APR's, you have to receive the card first, before these types of charges go into effect.

You should also report this to your State Attorney General Consumer Affairs department.

I can't remember what contact info you had, so I'm posting this:

3 R-E Solutions (CR Bancorp)
3605 Long Beach Blvd., Suite 410
Long Beach, CA, 90807

I also have this number you can try for a refund. Let us know if it doesn't work: 1-562-989-3730. You can send them a signature required letter, in tandem with calling to insist on that refund.

Get back to us on how this number worked out, and whether or not you got a refund.

Hope this helps.
