My husband was with this company for 5 months never made much money and never was able to even get a truck of his own.Since he didnt call is t/c everyday she fired him.He has been on a waiting list for a truck for over a month.He called every few days to check the status of the waiting list.He didnt know he needed to call everyday.Its crazy.He was lied to since day one.

Have people become so ignorant and accepting, that we are returning to the time when employers could practically starve you to death, work you for pennies on the dollar, and thrive while walking all over your back? God I hope not.

I'm just itching to sign up for a job where it is so bad that 160 people are hired to go to work for them at the same time, in one of four newbie hiring locations. I'll be amazed to watch the class slowly disappear one by one, and find out that those who were cut from the class for various reasons were kicked to the curb and stranded hundreds of miles from home, broke and hungry.

I'll be gleeful and chipper as can be, when I am made to sign an agreement to fork over $5,000 for my training, which will still be due if I am not sufficently trained or am cut for any reason during the training process.

I can't wait to work so cheaply that I would be subjected to having to live on cheap microwavable meals day in and day out for weeks. It's worth it, I suppose, to find my way into the world of trucking in 2009.

I've got ants in my pants to work for wages that are on par with what waitresses make before tips for eight, ten, twelve weeks, before the Gods at CR England decide to turn me loose to making a halfway decent wage. I'll be a-okay if I never see my family for 3 or 4 months after signing on with this fine company. I'll be a big time trucker.

I shout to the heavens above at the thought that as a newbie, I would be forced to pair with someone else and made to entrust my life in the hands of someone who has not been driving much longer than I may have been. It won't matter to me if he hasn't bathed in a month. He'll show me all the ropes and teach me to be a fine trucker. Laws? What laws...he's showing me how to cheat and be a big time trucker.

And if I were a woman, it just makes me warm and fuzzy to think that I may be forced into training out on the road and paired with a 400 pound slob who hasn't been laid in years, who will at the earliest opportunity decide to rape and beat me half to death.

And don't think you are safe if you are a man either. A couple of them have been raped too. The unwritten C.R. England company policy when this happens? They will fire me and keep the guy who raped me.

This company is so good, and the guys who work there are so eager to tell everyone about their great opportunities as a lease operator, that one of them made national headlines just a couple of years ago. He sat on the side of an interstate and threatened suicide for 24 hours, because he was so despondent when the company fired him while on the road for missing an unreasonable deadline, cut off his fuel card, allowing him to run out of fuel, food, and water, and then called police into the situation, when he begged to keep his job and refused to abandon the truck on the side of the road. He was dead broke, homeless, and totally desperate, and still...all he wanted was to keep on working for C.R. England.

I always wondered what happened to that man.

And finally, I will loudly have the orgasm of my life when I decide to leave this fine company for whatever reason, and my permanent record is trashed because they got mad that I left them for another company. If I do this within my first six months of driving, I will discover in short order that I am screwed, because no company will take a second look at me. C.R. England will have put something on record that is absolutely untrue, and I will be powerless to disprove it. Trucking will be over for me for at least seven years, and I will have to start all over again.

The above scenarios are what you may well experience as a driver working for C.R. England. Reports of complaints like the above and more can be found on this and many other sites. Google the company name to have lots to read for days on end. If anyone wants to go to work for a company like this after reading just a few of the more credible reports, then more power to them. Masochists certainly do exist.

Bosco2420, you've been with that company for a month, if you are even a driver at all. You may well be a company plant. Whatever you are, you are one in 1,000 that has ever attempted to defend that company AFTER they have been there for any length of time. In the rare chance that you are on the level, come back in two months and report your progress. Your chances of making it that long with them are next to nothing.

CR England goes through people like water. The estimated turnover rate for that company exceeds 500% per year. I would bet it's far higher than that, based on my own research. That company is in the top five of the worst trucking companies on the planet to work for. It is companies like this that have done nothing but ruined this industry.

If there ever was a company that deserved to go bankrupt, C.R. England and Sons is certainly one of them. But as long as they can keep trapping people into their spiderwebs like flies, I guess they will survive.

Remember one thing people; Good employers do not hire consistently and place ads in practically every newspaper across this great land of ours on a daily basis to try and find warm bodies.

Only the bad ones do.

I started my training on January 5th, 2009 at Burns Harbor. It was not bad at all and I knew what to expect before arriving.

First of all they do not provide food, they made that clear before arriving. Bring at least $200 cash with you. To save money I brought most of my food with me. I bought at Wal Mart for $1.94 each Hormel microwaveable dinners which you do not refridgerating. Bring about 10 of those and get lunch meat and bread and put that in the community room and the Hometown Lodge refridgerator, also bring drinks. When you go to class bring your lunch with you. You do not have to pay for breakfast because they Hometown Lodge provides cereal, donuts, coffee and juice.

When you arrive on Sunday they will Shuttle you to the school and you will fill out paper work and if it is not late you will go through a physical and drug test. Because it was very late on that Sunday the 5th I did my physical and drug test on Monday.

On Monday you will fill out all the pre employment stuff which takes hours. After all that is complete the instuctor will start going over the Indiana CDL manual sec 1-6 which will be complete by Tuesday. You only have two days to learn this stuff and then you take the test. Please read sec 1-6 at home before going to the school because it will help.

After you take the written test which include General Knowlede,airbrake and combination vehilces you will then be taken out to the Range for 3 days to practice 3 backing manuevers. They are Parrallel,off set, straight backing. You must pay attention to the instructors and keep practicing.

Hopefully on Monday you will take the drive test, if not it should be Tuesday or Wed. There were delays in taking the test because of bad weather and the CDL test site was close a couple of days so the school had to reschedule. It was no big deal for the delays because that meant more practice time backing.

After I passed the test on Thursday the next day on Friday I was pick up by my trainer who is a really nice guy.

Everyone I have talked to that are leasing a truck are earning $500 to $2500 a week and that is after deductions are taken out which include the lease payment which range from $350 to $500 and fuel $600,insurance $185.

The only bad note is that company solo drivers have been alliminated. No More Company Solo Drivers. I personally think it's safer driving when you are driving teams because if you don't know the city you are going to you co driver can help and also when backing your co driver can help.

If by anychance you do run out of money and have no food you may be able to get food vouchers from the training department and also when you go out with your trainer you can get $100 advance by using your fuel card at any of the truck stops.

CR England is a good company and I would recommend them.

I DIDN'T REMEMBER ANY OF THE STUFF YOU USUALLY GET WHEN YOU RESERVE A BALLROOM OR CONFERENCE ROOMS.WATER GLASSES AND ICE WATER OR EVEN COFFEE WHICH IS AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE TO THE PEOPLE WHO RESERVE THE ROOM.

BEN WHITE BLVD. THEY PUT IT IN ALL THE CHEAP SHOPPERS AND IN THE EMPLOYMENT NEWS ADS SO THAT DESPERATE PEOPLE WILL SEE IT AND AFTER WEEKS AND EVEN MONTHS OF BEING REJECTED. IT IS NICE AND EMPOWERING TO HEAR SOMEONE FINALLY TELL YOU ARE HIRED AND ACT LIKE THEY ARE TELLING YOU THE INSIDE SECRETS TO GETTING HIRED AND MAKING A SUCCESS WITH STEVENS TRANSPORT.

THESE PEOPLE ARE HUNGRY, SCARED, MISERABLE, HOMELESS AND WILLING TO DO ANYTHING FOR A JOB. AT THE ONE I WENT TO, THEY FILLED BOTH CONFERENCE ROOMS,THE HALLWAYS, DOWN THE STAIRS AND SAT IN THE FLOOR. I AM GLAD THE FIRE MARSHAL DIDN'T SEE IT. ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE TOO.

IT JUST SEEMED TOO GOO TO BE TRUE AND TOO HEARTBREAKING, I HAD IT FIGURED THAT THEY GOT SO MUCH A HEAD TO TRAIN THESE PEOPLE AND UNCLE SAM IS FOOTING THE BILL. WHEN THEY GET ALL THE MONEY FROM THE GOVT. THAT THEY CAN, THEY CUT THOSE PEOPLE LOOSE ON THE WEAKEST EXCUSES AND GO GET A NEW BUNCH. THEY GET MONEY FROM HAULING FREIGHT TOO ...

I FEEL SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE MOST OF ALL BECAUSE I THINK EVERYBODY IS ENTITLED TO A JOB WHO WILL WORK IT --REALLY WORK IT, SHOW UP ,DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD TO DO AS BEST AS YOU CAN.

THEIR ONE LAST HOPE IS TAKEN FROM THEM.

I WAS TOO SMART NOT TO FALL FOR IT AS MUCH AS I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A JOB..
I READ THE POSTINGS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO PEOPLE WHO ATTEND THESE ORIENTATIONS AND GO TO WORK FOR THESE PEOPLE AS DRIVER TRAINEES...

THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY PEOPLE AND NOT ENOUGH WORK.
