They called on Monday 4/17/06 and told me I was approved for a $500 payday loan. I was told that the money would be deposited into my account on Tuesday 4/18/06 and that the one-time fee of $129.95 would be withdrawn on Wednesday 4/19/06 ONLY if the $500 was deposited.
On Tuesday 4/18, not only was there no deposit but they withdrew the fee which caused caused my checking account to be overdrawn.
I called that afternoon and asked what was going on. I was told that "the person who you spoke to is not our most truthful employee" and that no one ever gets the $500 upfront.

I told her that I do not appreciate being lied to and that I want to cancel everything and get a refund. She said that she would send a refund form to me immediately and that it would take 3 days to redeposit the money into my account.

After not receiving any money or any refund form, I called again and was once again told that the form would be mailed right out.

It has been almost a week again and still no form, just profuse apologies everytime I call and scream at them.
Now, I have another mysterious charge on my account in the amount of $21.95 from a site called RoadSide Plus. I was able to find out that they are a sister company of CPR. I called them and asked them why they had billed me. (They were never mentioned by any CPR employee on the phone.)I was told that they had an application in my name and that they had sent me 2 emails. (My email is checked daily and no were from them.)I explained to the lady that I had never heard of them and definetely did not sign up for their services. I was plainly told that it "wasn't her problem" and that I would NOT be getting a refund. Then she had the nerve to ask me if I "would like to cancel." It's bad when you have to cancel something you never signed up for in the first place!
I have completely had it! No more games, no more apologies!

I have filed an online scam report with the FBI and will be going back to my bank in the morning. Hopefully my bank will be willing to help. (Small, local bank.)
I totally agree with the class-action lawsuit idea, but after I finally found the CPR website, it says that by joining we are refrained from filing class-action motions against them. I say let's go for it anyway. We DO NOT deserve to be used like this!

EDitor's Suggestions on how to get your money back!

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.

CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

And good luck Let us know how you do!

Refund Form Finally Arrives!

AUTHOR: Crystal - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 08, 2006

I was told on April 18th that they would send me a form that day to get my refund. Well, the form finally came in the mail today, May 8th. (They must have really slow postal service from Nevada to North Carolina!) I filled out the form and sent it back, but I don't really expect to receive my refund. Then again, as slow as they seem to be, I might get it around next Christmas!

Possible Solution!!! filled out the forms that the EDitor suggested. My bank agent demanded my refund and threatened to file charges.

AUTHOR: Crystal - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 02, 2006

May 2: I went to my bank again this morning. I filled out the forms that the EDitor suggested, so now the bank is going to forfeit the NSF fees and the withdraw of the $129.95 and the $21.95.

The bank agent called Credit Plus Rewards (CPR) customer service while I was there. We were on hold almost 40 minutes. We were on speakerphone when they picked up. My bank agent demanded my refund and threatened to file charges.

The CPR rep, Barbara, used every possible line she could come up with. Here are some of them:

-First she claimed that I could get no refund because the account was still be processed and the cards were being sent out.

-Then she said that the account was closed on April 27, and that they hadn't had time to mail me the refund form.

-Finally she admitted that the account had been cancelled on April 18. She then gave us a fax number and told us to fax my bank statements to get my refund.

The fax number actually went through but I still don't expect to see the refund from it.

That's why the bank and I contacted the Better Business Bureau.

The correct office to contact regarding Credit Plus Rewards is:

Better Business Bureau Serving Southern Nevada
2301 Palomino Lane
Las Vegas, NV 89107
(702)320-4500
Fax: (702)320-4560
info@vegasbbb.org

According to their report, they have had 74 complaints in 36 months about Credit Plus Rewards (Medtel). Out of the 74, 68 have been resolved.

(By the way, Credit Plus Rewards is a sole proprietorship owned by a Mr. Curtis Pope.)
Who knows? Maybe we'll eventually get back the money they stole from all of us. I suggest that you contact the Nevada BBB if you haven't done so already. I wish us all the best of luck!
