I, like so many others, was fooled by a call from Sureway Beneficial saying they had a $2000 credit limit unsecured Mastercard approved for me. It had a $249 fee which was supposed to cover fees making the card interest free for 2 years.

This of course sounded like a good idea at the time. They had called me on my cell phone while I was at work and even though I repeatedly said I don't have time to discuss this, they continued on with their speech.

I agreed to the card, gave them my bank info and they said they money would be withdrawn in a few weeks. I also received a long distance trial offer which I cancelled the minute I received info about it.

The card was supposed to arrive about 25 days after the money came out, so after a month and still no card, I started my attempt to contact them via phone. After several busy signals and several "all operators are busy, please leave a message" I started to worry that I had made a huge mistake.

I finally reached a rep and she stated the card was on its way, that they normally never took this long, and to watch for a welcome package to arrive. So a week or so later, I receive a package with useless info about cell phones, vacations and a form to fill out and send in along with $39.95 to receive a Mastercard debit card that you had to load with your own money!

So I called and called some more and finally reached another rep so I asked her if I was supposed to fill out that form and send in more money to get this card I had originally applied for 2 months ago. She said yes, that had to be filled out and sent in to receive the card, so I proceeded to tell her I wanted the $249 back, that I didn't agree to paying more money and that I didn't know it was a card you had to load money on to be able to use it-I have a debit card already!

She gave me the PO Box mailing address and said to send a letter, attention Marsha Grant, stating the situation and that they would determine if I could have my money back. After being jerked around all this time, I decided to look up the company on the net-I'll never know why I waited til now! All I found was negative info and stories of everyone else being scammed by these people!

I filed a complaint with the BBB and the FTC-I hope everyone else does the same and I will be contacting all of the numbers I've seen on this site. 813-962-7700, direct line 813-930-7323, Ira Rubin, manager and 866-849-1486. Thanks for your info and I hope to get my money back too!!

EDitor's Suggestions on how to get your money back!

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.

CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

And good luck Let us know how you do!

Mandy,

Great news that you got back your money from these fools. Thanks for sharing. I posted my version today, which is the same exact story. The only differences between the stories on here are the excuses that Sureway gives people. Thanks for putting the info out here. I was planning a vacation with that card, but will spend it getting my money back from those bastards this week sitting at home. I am still on hold at the 866-849-1486#, but will fax the lady. Hopefully, it works like it did with you. Thanks for having the initative to look out for people!!! With more people like you out there, we will put those fools in their place, which is out of business.

I GOT MY MONEY BACK, HERE'S HOW!!!

AUTHOR: Mandy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 13, 2005

Today I checked my bank account online and low and behold, there is my $249 back where's its supposed to be!

Here's what you need to do. Call the 866-849-1486 and tell them you have tried to talk to Sureway Beneficial and that you have had no luck, you need your money back now.

If she doesn't give you the fax info, tell her that you will fax a copy of your bank statement showing the money was charged and to refund your money.

In my case, the lady finally said I could fax that info to them and she'd take it to upper management to get it approved, it worked!

Fax a copy of your bank statement showing the original charge Attn: Ganae, fax # 813-936-0579. I faxed on the 7th and had my money the 13th--IT WORKS!! Hope this helps!

Attempting to get $ back, no luck yet

AUTHOR: Mandy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 09, 2005

I started by calling 813-962-7700, a number that I saw in one of the posts on here. The lady that answered the phone said it was a law firm and that the number had been listed incorrectly. I told her I bet she was getting several calls about Sureway and she said yes they were.

Then I called 866-849-1486, told the lady that I was trying to get my money back from Sureway, and she said they were just a payment processing center and that I needed to contact Sureway directly and be persistent because they're difficult to work with.

Then I called 813-930-7323, another number that I saw listed here, and was stated as the number for Ira Rubin. The lady that answered said she was just a switchboard, I said I was trying to get money back from Sureway and she gave the number of their processing center, whom she said could help me. She gave me 866-849-1486, whom I had just called.

So I called 866-849-1486 AGAIN and said I wanted my money that I've been trying to get it for several months and I was sick of everyone I talked to just passing me off onto someone else. She said for you to get your money back you need to fax us a copy of your bank statement showing Sureway charged you and she'd show it to upper management and get it approved. So I faxed the statement to Genae yesterday and i guess we'll see. I'll be calling Monday to see if by any chance something has happened in my favor.
