I got a credit card offer in the mail from Credit One Bank. This offer stated that the annual fee was $ 35.00. I went to their website to apply and was immediately approved. When the card arrived, I activated the card. The terms that came with the card advised that the annual fee was $ 75.00 first year and $ 99/year thereafter.

That was not the original terms that was approved for. When I contated the customer service team, I reached a call center that was outsourced in the Phillipines. I advised the agent what I was calling about and was offered to credit half of the annual fee that was billed onto my account. I waited a few days later and registerd the account online and noticed that only $ 25.00 of the annual fee was credited onto my account. I called back. Another rep in the Phillipines and asked for a manager. I then proceeded to explain and she said me that if I wanted a rep in the US, to call back during business hours.

After contacting the US based representative, which her name was Nancy, she advised me that her managers name was Eileen, but that they only amount that would be credited back to the account would be $ 25.00. I explained that the previous original rep stated half would be credit back,  she still continuted to advise that only $ 25.00 would be credit back. I am calling them back and cancelling the card. This is totally unacceptable for them to do this and state one thing and do something else.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

You ignore the Complainants review

Did you not read that the credit card customer stated he was expecting a refund of $50?  If that is what he was told, that is what he should have received.

You most obviously work for Credit One.  Just so everyone there at Credit One is aware, your commentary on complaints (ie, you are the deadbeat;  you didn't read the fine print, etc) just points to the fact that your company grossly takes advantage of consumers and is ripe for a class action lawsuit.

Your crappy little bank, which only produces $300 credit cards, has helped you to earn nearly $500 million in the last few years.  And your dirty little secret that you are owned by a debt collector is not a secret anymore.

The SHERMAN GROUP, a debt collection consortium, owns CREDIT ONE BANK.  In fact, the manager of recoveries at Credit One Bank also works for "about five debt collection companies" she stated under oath.

What Credit One should do is work on improving its image;  but just like debt collectors, it really could care less about retention.  It's bottom line actually comes from having its Credit One cards going into collections, where they can milk $300 into thousands.  It's the model of Sherman and its the model of Credit One Bank.

You very plainly stated you noticed the difference in this fee with the information received with the card.  Since at that exact point in time, why did you chose to activate the card and as such, agree to the terms and conditions of the card???
