I purchased a laptop in march, and they gave me 6 months free spyware and then she asked me if I wanted to continue the spyware subscription after the 6 months was over and I declined it on the keypad. So in September I look at my checking acct on line and I see a charge from Best Buy, so when I called and question the charge they told me if was for 6 more months of spyware. I told the cus ser rep, I declined to continue the service, and he goes to tell me that you can't decline it if you use a credit card/debit card they will charge your acct in 6 months. So I asked him so what if I would have pd for the computer that I brought back in two days with cash, how would they have charged me.

He tells me you can't use cash to purchase a laptop WTH. So un-true. Okay so on september the 9th when I canceled the software, I was informed that it will take up to 30ty days to get my refund back, now 30ty days has passed and now I have to wait 10 more days b/c they had to re-submit it, a bunch of BS. Everytime I've called I have never received the same story.  Best Buy is a rip-off and that department has made me realize that i need to take my business elsewhere, they are very unappreciated of the customers that keep them in business. So best believe I am going to try my hardest to put the word out there about them and don't use your credit card/debit card, because it will get charged in the future and it will take the state senate it seems to get your money back.

Re: Antivirus software

I'm sorry that you're having trouble with the system.  The fact is, you swiped your card and signed for the service, and you would have had to have given your email address at the time of signing up for the 6 months of free antivirus/antispyware software.  When the 6 months is drawing to a close, an email is sent to you, telling you that you're about to lose your coverage, and to renew your subscription or decline the renewal.  If you don't specifically decline the renewal, it automatically renews for you, so you don't lose coverage and get viruses on your computer (a much heftier charge of $200 to remove a virus).  You should have received that email.

We have stopped doing antivirus/antispyware that way since then.  It now automatically cancels if you ignore the renewal email.

I don't know why someone told you that you can't pay for a computer with cash... that person either misspoke or is stupid.  He may have said that he wouldn't be able to pull up your reciept if you paid with cash.
