Here is how Cross Country Bank Gets the ball rolling when you open your account. Went back to all old statements. What I was faced to see was enough to make you sick.
jan. 1998 opened account $350.00 limit
Charged by CCB $100.00 to open
Annual fee $ 50.00
CCB charged us $ 49.95 for Their product Auto Advantage ?
CCB charged $ 69.00 process fee
We charged $ 80.00 not knowing of the auto advantage.
CCB charged us $ 34.86 for something Called CCPA ?
Guess what over limit first month CCB charges $25.00 overlimit fee. In month # 1
Here is the really ugly part. We called CCB said we did not want this Autoadvantage or CCPA. Cross Country continued to charge overlimit fees, but did not credit those product charges back until May of 98. Then they credited those product charges back to the account, but not the overlimit fees.We had been charged. We were charged over limit fees every month for the next 22 months.

Here's how it added up over the 22 months Cross Country Bank Fees, Including overlimit, Credit line Increases, phone pay fees, automated account inquiries, Cash advance fees. Total fees over 22 mo. 1,020.07 (not Incl. interest) Total I paid in pymts 1,415.75
Total we actually charged 819.95
The fees exceed any amount charged.

Getting close to have paid them twice what we charged. Then add the interest. DO YOU THINK YOU NEED A CROSS COUNTRY CREDIT CARD TO RE-ESTABLISH YOUR CREDIT. We closed this account over 15 months ago. It is really hard to pay these off. So think hard before you are willing to give your hard earned money to these thieves. Just imagine how much money I could have saved had I never accepted this Card. Please be smarter than we were. Without this type of card you will have more money in your pocket Than if you have this card in your pocket!!!!!

Cross Country is the definition of RIPOFF

AUTHOR: Carl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 16, 2003

I agree that the majority of the fees were listed in the documentation that accompanied the application (although it was in very, very small print). However, that does not explain the deceitful manner in which Cross Country deliberatly holds payments and posts them late in order to build up late fees and over the limit fees. IT WILL TAKE ME YEARS TO RECOVER FROM THIS!!!!!!

The bottom line is that these people do not provide a service, as some people claim. They are simply in the business of making money and, unfortunatly, the people that they prey on are usually the ones that can afford it the least.

One out of thousands isn't bad ..Cross Country preys on people who are not informed and that are already having difficulty.

AUTHOR: Karen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 02, 2003

Well Dan, I guess you are the fortunate one! I suppose the fact they are and have been sued doesn't count? Good Banks don't get class action Law Suits against them! If you think all you deserved was a Cross Country Bank Card you haven't learned much. They evidently convinced you. They were your step to better credit. There are thousands of people being raped by this company.

First you are wrong about the disclosure. I just so happen to have ours. We did call Cross Country to remove those Autoadvantage and CCPA charges. They did 3 months after our request. If that was indeed part of their agreement they would NOT have removed them at all. They would have told us to bad! It is part of your card agreement.

Secondly, Cross Country is not the answer to improve any ones credit. If you have Cross Country BAnk on your credit report your score would be lower than if you had a conventional more desirable credit card. There are banks and credit unions that will give you credit.

Cross Country preys on people who are not informed and that are already having difficulty. Believe me there are much better alternitives!! Most consumers jsut aren't aware. Nice try though. I don't think you could convince a jury that Cross Country is out to help any one re-establish credit. They will most likely steal your money. Consumers there are better ways to repair your credit! There are books and lots of information out there to help you. Don't use these types of credit cards. Fix errors on your credit report first.

Cross-Country bank does provides a service

AUTHOR: Dan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 01, 2003

Cross-Country bank does provides a service to consumers that whould otherwise not have a credit card account for some reason or another - usually have such poor credit or bankruptcy (not lack of previous credit experience) that no other credit card company will issue a card.

All charges, including the advantage program, is explained in the terms of agreement with the credit card. They aren't secrets. If the program is unwanted, just cancel it.

I did have a card from Cross-country and it helped me rebuild my credit score - when no other company would accept my credit. I don't have one now - because they gave me the credit experience so that other banks offer me credit.
